OK Im looking to start shopping my own tracks that are freestyle oriented. The people Im currently dealing with well they're strictly house. So basically Im on my own LOL (when havent I been anyway).

What labels currently will listen to New Freestyle/Club demos? I am already sending to Robbins who else will entertain new dance tracks?

Post up or PM me

Soul if you are in this business to make money then think about not concentrating on freestyle. The freestyle industry as a whole has been suffering for a while now. So has dance music in general. If you feel that you have some good s*it then start looking to get yourself an agent or lawyer that will get you in contact with television or movie productions. That's where the money is at right now. I've been doing various garage house and R&B tracks for commercials and find that this section of the industry has a lot more to offer. If I can be of any assistance to you feel free to holla at me. Don't get me wrong I love freestyle and always will but things change for a reason and you must be able to change along with it. :wave

DJ SOUL, GLAD TO HEAR YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO OFFER.... :cheers
AS A LABEL OWNER AND FREESTYLER , I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU USE THE INTERNET FOR ITS WORTH....IF YOU CLASSIFY IT AS A FREESTYLE TRACK THEY MIGHT NOT LISTEN AT MOST LABELS BUT, YOU CAN ALWAYS OFFER A FREESTYLE MIX WITH THE OTHER MIXES.....
YOU CAN REACH A VERY BROAD BASE OF PEOPLE IF YOU USE THE NET AND DO IT YOURSELF...IT DOESN'T COST THAT MUCH TO PRESS CD'S TODAY AND IT INCLUDES ARTWORK AND THIS MIGHT BE MORE TO YOUR ADVANTAGE IF PROFITS ARE EVER MADE BECAUSE ITS ONLY YOU INVOLVED....JUST COPYRIGHT AND REGISTER YOUR SONG/S WITH ASCAP AND PRESS YOURSELF AND YOU WILL SEE THAT YOU CAN REACH MORE PEOPLE THEN YOU CAN POSSIBLY EVER IMAGINE AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY WHO OR WERE IS YOUR MUSIC AT BECAUSE ITS ALL YOU AND NO 2ND PARTY OR 3RD PARTY PARTNERS....... :walk
"DON'T FORGET ABOUT US WHEN YOUR FAMOUS".....LOL AND GOODLUCK....
IF YOU NEED HELP, JUST PM ME AND WE CAN TALK :dj

ALMOST FORGOT.....METRO IS STILL AROUND, THEY ARE JUST PRESSING MUSIC, THAT'S IT...

Go with Robbins Ent. They definitely have the funds to promote and market new material. It's not mainly Freestyle, but so what? In 2003, soon to be 2004, Robbins Ent. is definitely on top of the the Dance world. And if your music is bangin', you have a whole roster of talented artists to work with such as Reina, Lasgo, Cynthia, George LaMond, etc.

I'd even contact Jellybean Benitez. His label is hot.

That's Fine If You Want To Sign Over Publishing Rights To What You Did.....this Is What It Takes Sometimes To Get These Peeps To Work With You..
They Want To Own Your Work....so, I Hope You Like Doing Shows Because You Will Need To Do Shows To Make Money

Interesting points really. You know I'd love to be able to say its not about the money cause in part its not but of course it is. Look I got my things going on the other side of the field. Those who are into that area will soon know. but for real my peeps hammer on me cause I actually have taken the time to record certain tracks n say that I just cant let go. In part yeah I cant. I have a side of me that likes to crank out some freestyle influenced tracks. As well as my R&B and House. It was and is an area I enjoyed in my youth and still enjoy as an adult. They even hate to admit that they like what Ive done cause they dont want to be labeled. Hell I just want to be labeled that I make great tracks no matter what the genre. I produce and thats what I do. What ever Im feeling and on order as well. Personally my freestyle stuff I consider them a hybrid and hopefully a direction for freestyle evolvement so to speak. But my point is I want them heard. Sure I would like to make some money on the deal Im not out to give my music away. I am realistic and I would like them heard. But not starve either. I may not want to stay as the performer on the tracks I might want someone else to record and do the performance. I also have thought about going the true dolo route and put them out on my own. All my stuff of course is under SR copyright for music word and recording so if someone wants publishing sure pay me but Ill still get my points either way. I appreciate everyones input and opinions and Ive gotten more out of this post than that of which I asked. Which is more food for my thought. And I hope to have more food. Im always hungry for thought.
