On Kylie Minogue's new album "Body Language", she samples Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam's "I Wonder If I Take You Home" on the track: "Secret (Take You Home)".

Aside from that track, the album itself is very electro-catchy, & early 80's "disco-dancy".
Worth a listen.

Also worth a listen in her own right, is Kylie's own sister Dannii Minogue, & her new album "Neon Nights".
Her single "Dont Wanna Loose This Feeling" has been getting attention for sometime, its a completely NEW song, over the original instrumental to Madonna's 1985 hit "Into The Groove".

I thought it sounded NICE!

Her album as well, is very electro-dancy.

Like in a previous thread, NO, Madonna IS & WAS not Freestyle, but with producers OR mixers like Jellybean Benitez, The Latin Rascals, & Junior Vasquez back in da day, its no wonder her sound carried SIMILAR elements to Freestyle music, which always root back to Breakdance & Disco music. & Madonna was A PART of that sound in her early years, & said she wanted to go back to her days of listening to Afrika Bambaataa when she did "Music".

Britney, N*SYNC, etc, etc, have all had some kind of 80's electro-dance-funk influence on "SOME" of their songs, especially album songs that werent released as singles.
So I know what people kinda mean.
& Most of their hits were created by non other than FULL FORCE.

I hope Kylie, & Dannii, & todays artists who are influenced by the 80's electro-dancy beats, (which most are), & even 80's rock, - go far this year. 🙂

So its not that they are DOING freestyle, but they are using ELEMENTS that pertain to either Freestyle, Breakdance, or early 80's Funk & New Wave.

To many, (for example), ALISHA was NOT considered Freestyle, but more Dance-Pop, like Madonna.
Then again, many "Freestyle" artists also had "Pop" hits.
Its ALL GOOD!

So Freestyle artists SHOULD get a clue on whats going on, & get some new kewl bumpin' jamz out here!

& If I recall correctly, most of this 80's dance music WAS mixed back in da day WITH freestyle at the clubs.
Creating one dance nation on the floor, & that to me, is what really mattered.
As long as it moves you, .....WHO CARES!
🙂

Something to think about:

LISA LISA & CULT JAM's "Can U Feel The Beat", is COMPLETELY different from
SWEET SENSATION's "Sincerely Yours", which is COMPLETELY different from
DEBBIE DEB's "When I Hear Music", which is COMPLETELY different from
TKA's "One Way Love", which is COMPLETELY different from
CORINA's "Temptation", which is COMPLETELY different from
EXPOSE's "Exposed To Love", etc, etc, etc.

But guess what????
They are ALL considered FREESTYLE!!!!!!!!
Some more Electro, some more Pop, some Latin, Some Urban/R&B-ish, & some even Rock-ish, like SAFIRE's "Let Me Be The One", ...but its ALL FREESTYLE BABY!!!!!
🙂

SO I WAS RIGHT! The fact that Madonna would come out and actually say that "Music" was designed to have that Afrika Bambatta feel proves what I was saying about pop artists coming closer to doing freestyle than some of the "legends" of the genre are. Too bad TKA didn't feel like making songs that would remind them of the Bambatta days.

Yes, in some ways ...you were right.
Madonna has mentioned this before.
& Its true, many artists/producers today ARE going back to those oldskool roots. & Freestyle's oldskool roots ARE Breakdance & Disco, as with most 80's Dance tunes.

So dont be suprised by what u hear today.
Freestyle artists need to jump on da bandwagon, & pump out some jamz! Doesnt have to be Freestye, but at least Electro-Funky enough to appeal to a wide audience.

🙂

AFRIKA BAMBATTA also influenced RAP & HIP HOP also.

DANCE has been missing from the pop charts for a long time. its only natural that they go back in time to get some fresh ideas. i mean, its part of evolvotion. but we cant be lableing the new sound "freestyle" or else they will stop playing it!!!!!!

its like have a current song out now and even though it may have a "disco" sound to it, the moment you call it "disco", should be the moment you kiss it "GOOD BYE".
