Why Aint These Freestyle Artists Preforming At KTU'S Beatstock Collage,Safire,Noel,Shannon & Stevie B??? Does anyone know the reason for this maybe because of budget or dislike i was just wondering because those 5 artists are some of my favorite Freestyle artists and i was just wondering if there was any reasons why they arent performing so if anyone knows feel free to post.
 
Well,I spoke to SA-FIRE and she said since she had no hit this summer, they didnt ask her. They should of included her. Theres no freestyle without her. she is a true legend. as for the others, i cant speak for them but i know stevie b is in brazil still and shannon would fity perfectly with the dance artists.
 
That makes no sense to me -- they say Safire wasnt asked cuz she had no single this year?? Dont get me wrong i LOVEEE all tha other freestyle artists that are gonna be there but did they have any new hit songs this year...not really....so thats messed up of KTU to say that -- juss my 2 cents :blah
 
Richie it's all politics and it sucks. As for a budget don't let KTU fool you. The word here is "PROMOTIONAL". Everytime the freestyle artists are ask to perform at Beatstock for KTU they step up to the plate and perform. The only bad thing is that the station won't play there shit in regular rotation. All the hype is just for the show. Radio sucks and probably always will.

None of the Freestyle artists listed on the Beatstock roster have had a hit this summer!!!

Real II Reel and C&C Music Factory aren't even Freestyle artists!!!

mind you, all the artists do the show "FOR FREE". Where does all the revenue from the ticket sales go? things that make you go hmmmmm......
 
I wouldent be busting on KTU is If were any of you.
The ONLY station in New York to have a regular
freestyle show... Why would anyone say anything negative
about them... No Idea.
 
I was commenting on the statement made by Mr. Guido when he remarked that the artists performing at Beatstock are not being paid to appear at the event. Without the artists there wouldn't be a show. I stand by comment..."Yet another example of corporate greed"!
 
It sounds like a catch 22.The artist perform but usually don't get their songs play and if they do not perform they get less name recognition and risk being black book by the station.

Anyhow,when was the last time KTU broke any record in ?All the big dance records break out in Florida first and then KTU adds them to their playlist.Face it KTU music programming is not about taking risks.
 
Kenny Guido, same place the money goes at the rest of the radio stations around the country when they have shows. No artists get paid for radio shows, no matter what station it is.
I agree with JackG. Be lucky we have a station that still plays our freestyle. Unless I been away too long, these artists don't even have new songs. What do you expect ktu to play ? I dont hear other stations in the country playing new freestyle either

MYKIDD- you are correct, KTU never takes risks. I wish they would. But NYC is the #1 market. Small markets like Orlando can afford to be more risky and play lesser known songs more often. In NYC, you gotta play the hits

i agree to a certain extnt, FREESTYLE TRUTH but there has been plenty of freestyle artists with new material that KTU wont even let the public hear. Artists like SA-FIRE, TKA & even Johnny O have new material. KTU wont even give them a chance. Sure, they threw them a bone by letting them come on the radio last week but they need more than that.

My point in bringing that up was that KTU is not a station that will break new songs into a market unless the artists have major labels behind them.Therefore and this is only a suggestion since im not in the music business,it would make sense to target the music stations that are breaking the dance records like alot of the party stations are doing.NY is not the beginning and end of the world.The reason KTU has freestyle acts at beatstock is because that is what the people really want to see.How many teeny boppers are going to buy a ticket to see iio or dirty vegas?Not many...

I give credit to KTU for bring all these Freestyle acts under one roof but lets call a spade a spade...this is because they need to these acts to sell tickets
 
let me clarify - SAFIRE was asked to perform. She declined. I won't get into the reasons why.
 
people need to stop whining on here. what do u expect radio especially ktu to do for these freestlye acts ? roll out a read carpet ??????? sure looks like they're still supporting them. what other radio stations are giving these artists the publicity regardless if they're playing their new music. I for 1 have not heard any of this new music, nor have a bunch of my friends that are DJ's or work in radio....one being a dj on ktu.
 
FreestyleTruth....with all due respect to you and your friend who you say is a KTU dj....obviously the both of you did not listen to KTU Freestlye block between the hours of say 9pm to 12am every Sunday for almost three years....during the last hour of the block it was nothing but new school artists....I can name many new school songs that were played: Back 4 My Love, Why Did You Quit On Me, Let's Get It On, When Will I C U, Touch Me, You Were Meant For Me, Can You Stand The Rain, Thinking About You, So In Love With Two, I Fell In Love, Tears, What You Did To Me.....shall I go on? Since KTU cut the show to 2 hours, I don't hear these songs at all. I, as well as many other CFers have a right to bitch because they dropped the ball. KTU needs to remember that without listeners, they are nothing.
 
Like I typed to Jack on a PM, let's all try to see for some connections to get our own 24-7 freestyle radio station.....not to curse, but at this point I'm gonna be real and be from the streets.....if you're under 18 dont read beyond this...............I'm fuking tired of our artists working hard and they dont get shit out of it......it's hurts us and the artists themselves we've waited years for them to come back....and never in my life I thought legends would come back..TKA Johnny O Sa-Fire, etc....We need to make our own station and fuk all the other ones..if we have our own station that'll be major contribution to our music, and artists....Let's stop taking shit from these bullshit ass politicing excuses and take things to our own hands(not violently).....
