It's a shame when people have to go out of their way to be hurtful and vindictive in their words. It's even more sad when people feel the need to go out of their way to malign people who put a lot of time, effort and energy into freestyle music. It's a shame when people talk without thinking first just because they're protected behind their computer screen. Most of the artists, producers, DJ's and anyone else who works within the industry has fallen victim to it, which is why you'll rarely see any of those people posting on these boards. It's basically why I usually would rather just read things than respond.
It's sad, Evilbitch, especially considering we've met face to face before and had a discussion similar to this, and we'll probably see each other face to face again. Not that I really care. I'm not into drama. You can take it for what it's worth.
It might make you feel like a big person to write in all caps that I shouldn't take credit for something that's not mine and any DJ can do what I do. Well, ya know what. You're right and wrong. Could any DJ do what I do? Perhaps, if they know what they're doing. But that's not the case. It's my job and I give 100% to it every week. I spend hours making those mixes as perfect and meticulous as possible. Nobody pays me. It's a free service. You're wrong in the sense that besides just doing the mixshow- I'm responsible for ALL of the music played in the entire show. It's me who reaches out to the new school artists and puts their records on the radio. It's me that sits in the studio ripping songs to stations' computer from my personal collection- so that listeners could have more of a variety of songs. It's me that tallies requests, fields all the calls and emails and molds the show based on listener feedback. It's me that will copy a song from vinyl to a CD and mail it out to a listener that heard the song in the show and can't get it anywhere else.
You wanted an answer. And while you seem able to believe the words of "people who don't work for the station" and post them on a message board, you don't seem to be able to process the information when it comes straight from the source. Judy's show isn't going anywhere. I tried to put it in simple terms, and I got attacked.
And I'm sure one of the artists or producers will read this, call me and be like "why do you even bother answering?". And it's because in some cases I feel the need to explain myself so that people can understand how their words affect others and break down what they're REALLY saying.
It's funny how coming face to face with someone changes the whole perspective. A certain other DJ used to relentlessly call into question my ability to do anything. Then we met face to face, and everything changed. It's interesting how knowing someone as a person flips everything 180 degrees. Now we have respect for one another. Funny story, huh.
Now, without any hate, spite or disrepect- that's my final word on this issue. I'm not going to call into question your ability as a business woman, as I don't know anything about the company you work for, or your personality, or your ability to perform at your job. I don't know what gives you the right to not show me the same basic respect, but that's neither here nor there.
I'll say it again, and I always say it- enjoy the music for what it is.
All of the love, support and success of the show that comes my way will always by far outweigh silly message board bulls*it.
