I've been able to find several Freestyle songs that I have been looking for and I have to say that these programs that allow you to share files with other users are amazing. In a matter of minutes I was able to find "All That Glitters Isn't Gold" by the Cover Girls and "I Don't Want You Back" by the Rios Sisters. These singles are hard to find, let alone the albums themselves. You have to ask yourself, "What's so wrong with downloading songs if they are no longer in print"? Not a damn thing. I'm a supporter of these kinds of programs and I will continue to download whatever I can find. I've also downloaded many Madonna remixes and underground tracks only available on "white labels". So all the people up top who are complaining about the records sales drastically dropping need to relax, because 75% of the shit I download isn't available any where else. Oh yeah, anyone try to download any new material off of American Life? Madonna thought she was smart. She tried to protect all her new tracks from being downloaded on KaZaa and other programs by using a decoy. When you download the song and try and play it, you hear "What the phuck do you you're doing", in Madonna's real voice! But that shit backfired because DJ's and Remixers are using that same exact quote in all of their club mixes and mixshows. She tried to be slick about, but look what happened.

I don't want to open Pandora's Box here, but what's wrong with downloading? I constantly download and I happen to be quite proud of my collection; however, I do not limit myself to downloading, I do purchase my CD's when I feel it's warranted and worth the investment (Freestyle and other genres too).

If you take a poll, I guarantee ya that the majority (if they reply honestly) and including yourself DOWNLOAD (whether it is Freestyle or not)..

I am not trying to fight ya, but a cool debate I can do 😀

well u know what clubfossil? i would have to disagree with u on that one bcuz i can understand what carlito is tryin to say not that im tryin to have his back tho on this cuz im sure hes a big enuff man to defend himself but um is like everybody here on cf is out for themselves no one here cares what anybody does on their spare time cuz im sure u dont give a !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what i do on my own time or that if i have a hard time finding a song to dl and tryin to see what program is best to get it so what makes u any better to dog out carlito just bcuz hes givin an opinion huh? who the hell is u?.........first of all to have respect u first gotta give it now tell urself after what u just wrote here now do u think anyone else is gonna respect u? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no! if u too dumb to understand that when someone like carlito or me for example is having a hard time finding a song to dl there shouldnt be nothin wrong with that cuz everybody does it when u have someone out there who has it u can obviously know u can get it from them but to come here and tell someone off simply bcuz u see that person is expressin him/her self nah thats not right

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! This is a no win situation. Just drop it please! 😀

My personal opinion...

There is nothing wrong with downloading as long as it is not the only way you support the industry.

I have no respect for the person that will say how much they support someone & if you ask if they have the cd they are like "yeah I dloaded the whole thing & burned it :rolleyes

I don't download Freestyle Music...cause Im a collector. I have about 80 CDs...and some that I bought I paid $50-$100 (Out Of Print...call me crazy).

Now tell me something...where on a CD can I find Latin Rascals It Must Be You Extended Mix??? So Im gonna miss out on this and not download it for enjoyment? What about TPE's songs? Some will miss out on those they no longer on CD. For rare songs...downloaded is a tool you definately need. If studios didnt make sufficient copies...if those CDs are not on the shelf...how can you be so cruel and shout out the human race from hearing the power of music?

This is a difficult topic.

I have downloaded a lot of songs from audio-galaxy (when it was around) and kazaa. There are just a whole bunch of songs that you will search for for years and years and never find.

This is a personal decision, and you have to act in a way that's comfortable for you.

My radio station was based on my downloaded songs, and I have a statement on my site "Please don't ask me to share files, because I don't. I'd rather you support the artists giving us our feestyle." When someone asks me in my email where they can find a song, I send a link to where they can buy the cd.

I also make it a point to buy the cds that feature these songs I've downloaded. It may take time, but I'm replacing all my tapes with cds, and by searching the net and record stores, you can find and support freestyle. Chuck D-

WHERE DID YOU FIND THE FULL LENGTH JOEY KIDD??

I am drooling ova here.. I have a few downloads, but not that CD.. Please tell me where.. 😱

soowwwy, but,i have to admit the only freestyle i buy are the mixes. all the freestyle songs i want you cant buy anywhere so i download them.if i find a cd with lots of freestyle songs i cant find i'll buy it but they all seem to consist of the same songs, Change On Me, Show Me,Bad of the Heart. they usually never have a bigger variety.if record sales have dropped its because, well i my opinoin, new music sucks. all it seems to be is rap, r&b and alternative rock-which all seems to sound the same to me.its very rare were i'll hear a new song that i like enough to buy. unless it Trance or Alternative, i never hear new freestyle anymore.deep down the probelm is the radio stations and mtv.it seems they only sell what the radio stations and mtv play.

Not true...we have no probs playing NEW FREESTYLE on the air.

Here is my view on this downloading music off the net/bootlegs.
I recently asked my brother in law , who listens to mainly hip hop music, if he buys bootlegs or buygoes and s the original cdof an artist.
Here is what he said, I get a bootleg to check the cd out, if the cd is hot I go get the real deal.
I asked him why he did it that way , and he replied that no one wants to get stuck with a wack ass cd after paying up to $20.00 for.
I asked him what he condisered a wack ass cd? he replied , an album with only 1 or 2 good cuts.
He said if a cd album only has 1 or 2 good cuts he will not spend
$ 20.00 he rather wait to see if there is a single or downloading it. He also said I rather not download the music , because the quality sucks and can't compare to having the actuall cd with the pictures and alll the credits, he said the having the actuall real cd is better, but sometimes it's just not worth the money.
He gave me an example he had obtained the 50 cent cd as a bootleg and after hearing a couple hot tracks he went and purchased the real cd.
He said I don't mind spending the money if the product is hot.
I asked him would he buy freestyle/dance music or download it , he said at this point if you see new freestyle/dance product in a record store and it's a hot joint, buy it , because they are to far and few.
I let him listen to the entire Nu Image album and asked what he thought , if he would spend his money on the real deal?
He said The album is definately a hot album and new music and not because you're my brother in law, cause if it was wack I would tell you just the same.He said you have at least 9 tracks or better to buy this album for.
He said anyone into freestyle/dance that buys a bootleg or downloads your album and not purchase the real deal, will actually be working against what you are trying to do and thats bringing forth new music in such a small market.
He also said if your album does well, you better make the next one just as hot or better, he said because then chances of someone going straight to the record store and buying your music right off the bat is more likly to happen.
The bottom line is this, he said ,if your music/cd is hot people will buy it no matter what, but if your music/cd is ok , people might just want to have that 1 song and if ain't a single you better beleive a download version or bootleg is what they're going to look for.
Also keep in mind if they can't find the product in the store and they like it they will go where they have to go to get it.
So if you want to support our music and think it's worth the money , please go out and buy it, so we can keep bringing you more new music.

I JUST LOST ALL RESPECT FOR YOU CARLITO

Clubfossil- No sweat off my back, bro. I never asked for your respect, nor do I need it. I don't even know who you are talking about respect. I could understand if you knew me or something but you don't. So, with that, I'll let it be. It's too !@#$%^& bad that people need to me aware of what they say, especially when they give their opinion on something. But you know what, you just gave me more reason to speak my mind and I will continue to do so. And for all of you people that understand where I'm coming from, thank you. I'm sure you really understand where I was getting at.

Yes this is a very touchy subject. The terrible thing about downloading is that there are people who don't like to pay for stuff and just want it for free. That is what's going to eventually kill the music industry (record labels and artists). I do agree that downloading is good because sometimes an album just cost too much money for only a few good songs or it's hard to find a particular song or album. For those reasons alone downloading is the only means for obtaining and enjoying music. On the other hand if you like a new song and it's all you want, the record companies aren't helping out, because they charge $7.99 for the single and it's an Import to top it off. I just think it's the biggest scam out there right now. Why are American artists CD's being produced in England?? Probably cheaper that's why, but doesn't that mean the price should reflect this too?? Company records should wake up and see that they are shooting themselves in the foot. And they wonder why people are downloading music and sharing music files. I just hope they realize that it's the customers that make them successful and if they keep gouging us "silly" places like WinMx and Kazaa will look that much more attractive by providing an alternative solution. Anyways, I just wanted to throw that in the mix as one of the important components to this debate. People should still buy CD's to support the artists, but only if that CD is worth spending the money on. I think if a CD is real good then word of mouth (through forums just like this site) should help with the sales of it. Well I think I've said my piece.

Carlito bro, you always have such great informative posts that we enjoy reading (ummm perusing when beyond 20 paragraphs LOLOL)..
I feel ya totally on what you said..

Keep on posting and speaking your mind as you do so well 🙂

it's a difficult topic. I just can tell about my own experiences.

There are 2 aspects:

Here in germany it's not possible to get CDs from e.g. Angelina, Jossette, Denine or others, so the only possibility is downloading the music. For example, I've paid almost the double price for the "I Can't Stop" album from Elissa because it wasn't possible to get it, there was just one german online store that's selling the album.

The second aspect is that you don't know what you buy. You see a new CD with new songs but you've never heared one of them because the radio stations don't play freestyle. So you go downloading it and when the songs are good you buy the cd.

To sum up, I think that downloading is an important instrument for freestyle fans. I don't know the situation in the USA, but here in germany it's like I've described.

Julian 😉
