I just did something I thought I would never do. I just quit my job. I'm supposed to go in and have a meeting with my boss tomorrow, but I highly doubt that will change anything. As most of you know, I really do love my job as an EMT, even with all the crazy hours and everything. But this weekend, I just reached my breaking point. Everyone has been working double or triple shifts since last week when the war started, and it's literally tearing everyne apart. Hardly anyone has gotten any sleep, and there's been tension between everyone since we're all so stressed. This weekend, I was off on Sunday from my other job, and Saturday night I'm getting ready to go out and work beeps me to come in and work a double shift. Granted I was mad that I wouldn't be able to go out, but I figured no big deal I'm used to it. Then Monday when I was supposed to get off shift, they were trying to get me to stay, and I couldn't because of school. My boss was actually trying to get me to stay and work another 12 hours instead of going to school. Then today, he practically reamed me for not staying yesterday! So as calmly as possible, I told him that I cannot take this anymore and that I need a break and that I'm handing in my resignation. My boss is pissed cause we just lost 2 people last week when they quit cause of him.
As I said, I'm scheduled to go talk to him tomorrow, but I don't see myself going back there. I love my job, but the added stress and aggrevation to deal with from an ass of a boss is not worth it. Thankfully I still have my other job, but that's only on weekends, and not really going to pay my bills, so it's time to start looking for a new job. Hopefully I can get in with another ambulance company, or even be an EMT in the emergency room of a hospital. I've been were I was for almost 4 years and I still can't believe I quit.
