Holla !!!! I just got off the phone with Benny Medina who is Jennifer Lopez's manager. She was just on HOT 97 with Angie Martinez. I mentioned to Benny that I have a perfect song for Jennifer called "New Horizon's" that I would like him to check out. My goal is to get Jennifer to sing this track with two freestyle artists and it would be added to her album as a bonus track. Her album is due out in November and the track is phat. It really has that latin street feel with all kinds of percussion and live instruments. Hit me off with some suggestions to who you think should be the freestyle artists. Wish me luck. I'm off to see Benny in his office next week. That's all for now folks.:wave

I was really thinking along the lines of two male freestyle singers. George Lamond and Kay are definetly a possibility. The timing just might be right. We'll see after this meeting.

Hey hon u know what ur right i was thinking George lamond his got a great voice n i think there will be a chemistry. God bless good luck muaaa....

Orgntr1, most likely not because the album is finished already but her first single is due out in December. I'm hoping to get the bonus track added to that. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks everyone for your input. Holla !!!!

Let's see a Freestyle duet between J-Lo and her good friend and former Freestyle artist: Marc Anthony

Umm, I don't mean to burst anyones bubble and I know I am going to get a lot of angry responses from this...but people, this isn't 1989 anymore. The "big 5" record labels have no interest in freestyle or its artists. The only time they care is when they have to license an old song they have the rights to for a compilation CD. Pretty much no label will take a chance on a freestyle artists unless they are going to sing background and only receive credit in the liner notes. Translation: you won't flip over a cd and see the track listing as "Jennifer Lopez featuring George Lamond". Music execs basically think that freestyle is old news and the artists who sing it are considered poison. I mean if that wasn't the case wouldn't Coro, Judy Torres, Sa-fire, Cynthia, George, Angel Clivilles have major record deals? Yes I know some of them have gone on to be successful in salsa. And yes, some still records dance music...but it's on a smaller scale with a small independent label. Universal, Elektra, Sony, Virgin.....none of these labels will touch freestyle with a 10 foot pole.

J. Lo and Benny might be calling a lot of the shots with her next CD, but the bottom line is, she is on Sony. And what Tommy Mottola says...goes. Tommy has had Lisa Lisa, Brenda K. and George all on his artist roster at some point or another. It's pretty safe to say that he is done with freestyle and its artists for the time being. And yes, Marc Anthony is on Columbia, but Marc can't be considered freestyle. True, he wrote a lot of hits for freestyle, but his solo career never really took off (anyone remember "Rebel"?). He really wanted a solo career but the people who ran freestyle felt more comfortable keeping him behind the scenes as a writer and back up singer. He can rightfully turn his back on freestyle. It never did anything for him.

Interesting. Actually, hidden in my mind, I knew that GL nor K7 would possibly appear on the credits for J-lo's new album.
Just sounds too good to be true. I guess they would have to re-establish themselves into another genre for such consideration.

Look everyone, don't sell your freestyle artists short. I didn't say that they would be singing freestyle. The song I have for Jennifer is not freestyle. George and Kay do not have to re-establish themselves in this business.

Credits are credits. What difference does it make where they are located. Jennifer Lopez is not a Michael Jackson and never will be. Nor will she sell as many records as him.

I'm not selling the artists short....but I know how the industry feels about freestyle artists. Unless they switch to Latin, there isn't a major label that will give them a chance regardless of if they want to abandon freestyle and sing r&b, pop, or rock. I wish it were different cause there is some major talent in freestyle that I feel should be recording on a major. But the execs generally feel they are "has-beens" and could not have any commerical success.

On another note....Orgntr1, your Lisette Melendez mix is dope!
