Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony to co-star in "El Cantante"

"Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony will be soon husband and wife on the big screen as well. The two singers are teaming up for the indie biopic "El Cantante", directed by Leon Icasho ("Pinero").

The movie tells the story of one of the biggest Spanish-language singers of the 1970's, Hector Lavoe, who was harmed by personal tragedy and heroin addiction and died penniless from AIDS-related complications.

According to Production Weekly, Lopez will play Puchi, the wife of Hector Lavoe, portrayed by Anthony.

Shooting is set to begin next month in New York City and Puerto Rico."

This is funny. I had an idea for quite sometime to direct a movie about the life of Hector Lavoe. I guess my other salsa idol beat me to it by a first round knockout! lol

Either way, I think Marc will do a fine job as Hector Lavoe. Apart from being an incredible singer, he is an awesome actor. Most don't know this about him. Perhaps this film will jump start his acting career. -Poetry In Motion
