Funky Green Dogs come out of MIami.
they are Oacar G (geaton) and ralph falcon.
They have been and are known more for their House inovations over the past decade as the production team called Murk. (aka the murk boys)

They grew up around the arena of miami and new york club circles that included both the sounds of classic house and latin freestyle music.
When atention came to them with the single "fired up" the single included freestyle vocal infulences similar to that of 80's freestyle records coming from artist like TKA. At the time that the record came out, Miami was exploding with the nu-freestyle/trip hop movement of the mid to late 90's (Planet soul, acid factor, nadine renee, dj boom etc,). the record's vocal infused and was used in freestyle/trip hop mixes and at times bridge the house/trip hop sets at that moment.

murk, like many other house producers, grew up with alot of music influences, including freestyle. It is common to see producers influence their productions with thier upbringings.
(especially today and in the coming musical wave).

after thier release of "body" , murk continued to enjoy the success of the records, who before got attention from comercial radio,...first flourished and continued to do so inthe underground gay south beach and circuit scene along side other dj/ production teams like Rosabel (DJ ABEL and Ralphie Rosario), many lehman, peter Rouhofer (*69),victor calderone, james anderson, etc.

The sound was progressive house and tribal before the meanstream cought on. As underground music got darker and more agressive,
thier next succeful move that would captivate the mainstream would be their Dark beat project.

with dark beat, they included vocals and peformances by Frank Oba Lords, who was know already in the scene as a freestyle pioneer and latin house legend. Frank lords was the lead member along side Rudy gil, in the Secret Society band that was popular during Miamis freestyle reign. In the 90's,like most latin freestylers who evolved into latin house music, frank was known as latin Xpress and had many latin house hits including his trademark "chango".

dark beat today is basically what was latin xpress, same members. and also include production work from murk. dark beats next release will be that of a dark freestyle driven breaks record.

dark beat also had additional productions from Guissepe D (who was known for his freestyle past, today wrote and produced aby's "sometimes",wrote and produced "tears" for rockell along side tony moran and andy panda and will be working with D'luna (china doll) along side many other artist (camcim 3002).

back to dark beat/murk...at the moment went back to their roots with a remake of their legendary house classic "some lovin" by Liberty city, originaly from thier own house label Murk records.

Although, not freestyle.......a dj/production team that has an open mind, the roots and posabilities to one day again release a future nu-freestyle/progressive house project or work with freestyle figures and icons.

in addition to freestyle influences and people surounding projects like this...the manager of darkbeat at the moment is also Joe granda.....who was known for his contributions in the miami freestyle movement with groups like nice n wild "diomond girl" and was in cirlces with people like john minis, lweis martinee, ish, artie jacobs and countles others.

the darkbeat project actually reflects what is going on in maimi now. freestyle people into progressive house music and also the driving force for the nu-freestyle/breaks movement and waves coming out of miami.
