Nah. Personally, I would consider them "house". I mean, seriously, not one of their songs, to me, is Freestyle. Latin house would be the appropriate term. This is solely my opinion so nobody jump down my throat.
REMIXX, MY WORDS EXACTLY. HOUSE,FREESTYLE AND DANCE ALL ARE SIMILAR.
back in the day it was all meshed together. i love both. now house is different and a dying genre.
HELL YA! I listened to everything back in the day and it did go hand in hand. Rhoq had once said he had only listened to "FREESTYE" back in the day but i think that was almost impossible because the djs and the radio stations meshed all the freestyle, house, triphip and r&b together and it was impossible to say you only listen to one style while all of it was offered at once.
I wouldn't necessarily say that "House" music is dying. As a matter of fact, "House" music is a main ingredient in any and every gay and straight club. Pop artists today such as Justin and Christina have remixed their current hits into club anthems. If you want to take it to another step, look at Mariah. The girl is talented and I remember her saying something to the fact "the current single has a lil' something for everyone, even my club heads". "House" music will never die and has succeeded in today's market. Has anyone listened to Mary J's most current album, "Dance For Me"? I suggest you pick it up. You'd be surprised.
anyway justin and christina dont remix there stuff for the clubs, the dj/producers do so I wouldnt give them the credit...as far as mariah being "talented" hmmm she can carry a note thats for sure, but the girl has not one original thought in her head........
But Back on the subject in the late 80s/early 90s house dance and freestyle meshed together beautifully!!!
Wish it could still be that way but I dont see that happening anytime soon!
Actually, no, it's not off the subject. I was referring to something that was mentioned in a previous post that you might have missed. Scroll up and take a look. Nor did I say that Justin and Christina mix their own music. Anyone would know that. And, Mariah not having "one" thought in her head, c'mon now. She only had more than 10 #1 singles all written and produced or co-produced by her. So I don't know what you're talking about. How many Freestyle artists write their own material? Not many. However, House music is not a "dying" genre.
I guess you can call House with a sprinkle of Freestyle. As Kenny Guido mentioned above those who lived it wil know HOUSE and FREESTYLE were once one!! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>Let it roll get bold!!!!!
yes its house. but its a style of house that rose out of the freestyle scene. the LATIN freestyle scene.
It has the same blood line of freestyle that gose back all the weway to electro funk and the early 80's hiphop movment.
it was not a micmac thing...every body was evolving it, labels like cutting and othe indi pendenst both in new york and maimi.
artsit like india and safire ,2 in a room, the vargas brothers, bad boi orchestra, etc defined this sound.
it served as the bridge when the final migration of latin freestylers crossed over totaly to the world of undergound house music.
unlike pop house music thatw as built around black(african american) influences or gay influences....the latin freestyle house sound was always existent and focused on the latin side of things.represented that whole experience.the second geneartaion experience.
just like freestyle evolved out of electro funk, we still represent that sound and to this day back it up and give home to it, the sam way freestyle started evolving into latin house the same scene gives home to that sound.
its the same blood line historically. the same family tree or the genre, sub genre, trends etc.
the diference with the latin hiphouse sound and other latin house records is that they are more street rooted aposed to the non street sounding bandwagoners coming from latin america and the caribean.
records that go as far backa s "do you wana dance(aroz con pollo)" by bad boy orchestra or material from india ,safire, 2 in a rom or all the way to sancoshos "tumba la casa" or some of todays tribal anthems and everything in between........the sound had and is a huge part of the freestyle world and it history.
thats is why you will find it on compilations and always within the freestyle scene.
i can go deeper, but wont.
in onths to come the same question will be asked by soemone else.
ist just something that is known.
people should know this already...
the answers are in the history on the evolution of the music and how that came from the evolution of the freestyle scene.
its very copmplex.
something that most peopel would understand if they lived through the whole process while this was happening.
its not tr8 up freestyle. but it is influenced by the freestyle experience and very at home in the freestyle world.
by the way..ther ha always been a side by side relation with freestyle and house. goese way back.
in the arly 80's some house records did borow from the electro funk and frerestyle sound, wether it was basleines, ceartain keys or melodies. the reverse happend inthe late 80's when freestyle started bowowing elements from house also.
also there has always been latin influences in house music and latins in house music. but when the evolution coming from the freestyle side of things kicked in, there was more of a suport and rally behind it. The movement stood behing the sound coming from the freestyle scene at full force.
and since freestyle dominated at radio.....in a way it was the change of sound within freestyle that also helped break walls down for other house records that woudl go comercial on radio....from jomanda 'gota love for you" "show me love" by robin s, and material from c&c music factory...(who also like todd terry, frankie bones, lil loue vega etc already had their hands dirty with freestyle).
It's not because a House song is available in a Freestyle comp that means that this track is Freestyle. Many labels did mistake all the time. And that it's also a fact. 😉
i always thought they were house. i knew the difference from freestyle and house back in the day and today. but any how who cares? it was all good music that we loved to move our asses too.
