IM NOT A BOOTLEGGER MICKEY IM JUST MAKING A SUGGESTION TO STOP ALL THIS BOOTLEGGING CRAP I RESPECT YOU AND YOUR LABEL. DONT BE MAD AT ME I WAS JUST EXPRESSING OPINIONS I LOVE ALL YOUR MUSIC AND WISH YOU WELL WITH YOUR COMEBACK
 
The sad truth is...Every single DJ in this world that records his or her mixes on a tape, CD or other format without the consent of the record labels/publishers to use the songs contained in the mix is a bootlegger...

I think every DJ that reads this is guilty, including myself!

BUT you have to remember that there are hundreds, maybe thousands of Freestyle songs that would have never been heard by a mass audience if a DJ hadn't used a particular song in the mix. The DJ's provide the artists and labels promotion. Go ahead and report bootleg mixes to the RIAA or whoever, for each raid just remember that you are losing valuable support from that DJ!

A mixed tape or cd might be the only way that people who do not live in freestyle meccas might get a particular song or version.Not everyone has access to a pc.Yes,the artists and producers have a right to every cent they're entitled to for all their hard work.However,the local guy on the street corner is not really making any kind of money that will make a dent on the wallets of labels.Go after the music stores and people who make a business of this online.If a friend asks me to make a cd out of a favor..I will do it..its not any different than when I made a tape for them.And usually when I do its because they are not upto date with the new freestyle or never heard of it.

Couldnt have said it better myself...lots of people such as myself had never heard of freestyle til a friend of mine gave me a "MIXED TAPE" back in 93. And everyday people are finding out about freestyle thru these talented dj's that make these mixed cds/tapes...i dont think its ripping off the industry..they should consider it free advertisment as far as im concerned..made me go out and buy the full version..etc.
 
No question, the DJ is, and always will be, THE outlet. To sue him/her is like biting the hand that feeds you. (in this case the feeder is the dj, feeding to the potential buyers). Anyway, I won't get too deep into this. If you wanna sell a record, the DJ and a few other outlets are who you offer it to. I wouldn't get all pissy about a DJ throwing the songs into a mix, on or off the radio. Don't sell the record then if you don't want it to be heard by many...

I'm sorry to say that this time Rhoq is not right.

It is that same lousy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ing excuse I heard about the mix tape and DJ support for years that has cost us valuable dollars in sales and lack of major, and now independant label support for Freestyle artists and producers.

I could go on but I would hate to interupt myself trying to prove myself wrong.
 
OK, Let me add my paragraph to this issue.

DJ SONIK, I never called you a bootlegger. I was making a point about people who bootleg my music or MicMacRecords / 21st. Century Records or anything that I write and produce.


I’m gonna say it here also.. Look guys, I was a DJ also since the 70’s and I made my cassettes and hooked up all my friends with copies.. But when you start to sell the Tapes/CD’s/DAT or any recorded format of music YOU DO NOT OWN, YOU ARE BOOTLEGGING and Steeling from the labels and artist.

If you are making your DJ mix CD’s etc and acting like Santa Claus (Giving It Away) Then that’s cool. That is kinda like promoting but not exactly. But your not steeling.

Now back to what I had mentioned in the other MicMac thread to DJ SONIK… I will just copy it and past it here.

THINK ABOUT IT 150 A SONG IS BETTER THEN GETTING NOTHING AND BEING BOOTLEGGED.

My reply to that was….
DJ Sonik, First of all, The labels that own the songs call the shots. Not the DJ’s…. If the Labels want to charge $500 a song or $5,000 a song. That is totally up to the label to decide what they feel they want to charge and not the person who is looking to license the product.

Personally, I don’t care what other labels do with there product but I tell you and everyone who reads this. BEWARE!!!

When I see a Bootleg out, I get a copy and then report it to RIAA and they will just go after the Bootlegger (Like The POLICE Going after a thief) and have them arrested and charged.
They also come to your little Bootlegging Studio and take all your equipment, Lock you up and hit you with some nice fines.

Now think about it... Was it worth it?

You will need a Lawyer to fight your case and you will be fined and your equipment taken away. Is that worth $300 or $500 or any amount TO YOU???

I don’t care who it is or how smart they ( The Bootleggers) think they are. If you think you can get away with it, You will be surprised. They will finally get to you.

So DJ SONIK, If you want to learn a little more about that before they come to your house to take you to jail in the middle of the night when you just feel a sleep, Here is a link… www.riaa.com

This is something that many labels all over the world are doing and there was even a segment on COPS about RIAA busting down on some of these bootleggers and taking them to jail.

Think about this before you be the next one to get caught with your pants down.

It's very simple guys.. if you are not stealing from the labels, You have nothing to worry about. but If you are.. I WILL BE THE FIRST ONE TO REPORT YOU TO RIAA... And i will see you in court!!!

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS DAMN, THEY'RE CRACKING DOWN ON THIS SUBJECT! but in all honesty I have burnt my own (for my collection) but trying 2 sell them A BIG H3LL NO....THAT'S SO WRONG I'M OPPOSED 2 GETTING A MIX ON CD-R BECAUSE FOR 1. i'm losing money BECAUSE EVENTUALLY IT'LL MESS UP. Hopefully they'll stop the SO-CALLED CD-R Industry and start pressing CDS again (Meaning ALL DJS)!!!!!!
