Well, not at da artists,

But I am getting aggrivated more & more that our artists companies are not doing much to promote whats going on.
Whoever the promotion staff peeps are, they need to get with the f***ing program!!

Lil Suzy, TKA, Cynthia, Safire, & others have all released great material in the past years or so, especially this past year, & I dont see any videos, or promotion going on, or that WENT on.

In '97/'98, Lil Suzy's album "Paradise" was among her best, not only carrying a few freestyle tunes, but also new music that appeals to a larger audience such as Pop/Rock, Urban R&B, & Dance/Trance, including a phat House jam with the House "Goddess" herself, CRYSTAL WATERS.

I found it great that she explored new areas & widened her range, but hardly anyone noticed. (Of Course us Freestylers did.) But I coulda seen "I Still Miss You" as a radio hit, as well as possibly been on MTV.

Times have changed, & it aint the Freestylin' 80's & 90's anymore, but it's great to see our artists making new music, as well as sneaking in a few Freestyle tracks here & there.
Problem is..... NO ONE IS PROMOTING!!!

TKA & CYNTHIA are on a major label (TommyBoy/Timber), still, no videos, promotion campainges, radio/tv interviews, etc.

Cynthia's last album "Thinking About You" was great!, Again doin' freestyle, but tapping other "modern-day" genres. Was Cynthia even on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno"???? Nope.
TKA'a last album "Forever" was a lil' different. Had some house/ latin/ dance tracks, yet smooth R&B-Pop that will (& can still) appeal to todays audience. Are TKA on TRL?? ...Nope.

Safire will be retiring herself for a bit n' all, but her "Bringing Back The Groove" was kool as sh*t! The obvious duo with Cynthia "Can U Stand The Rain" still has potential to make it. Unfortunately, Safire will be doing other projects, but I hope it will blow up!

Lil' Suzy released her "Greatest Hits" this year, along with 3 new songs, hopefully they will do something or hopefully her next album will be off da hook! I can truly see her as a Latin/Italian Idol on the cover of "Teen People", & other publications along with today's young divas.

If Kylie Minouge's "Cant Get u Outta My Head",
Daniel Bedinfeild's "Gotta Get Thru This", Dirty Vegas,
& The DAMN Ketchup's song, & other things that are good, but, not-as-talentful-as-are-freestyle-artists-can-do, ...If they can get out there & get majorly popular, & have videos, .....Then with the right producers, energy, time, & PROMOTION, our artists can do better!

Maybe it's just me, but I can seriously see it happen for the better if PROMOTION gets done.
That's whats PISSIN' ME OFF!!!!

PROMOTE DAMMIT!!! .....PROMOTE!!!!!!!!
GRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

I hope Cynthia's next album (coming soon), & Lil' Suzy, TKA, Safire, Nick Colon, D'Luna The China Doll, Johnny O, Cheree', Nyasia, Richard Lugo, Gioia, Mikaila, Jordan Knight, Rockell, Coro, etc, will be given the chance & PROMOTION to show the world the potential & awsome talents they have to offer.

& To show that J-Lo, Enrique, Shakira, Dirty Vegas, & Daniel Bedingfield, etc, are not the only Latino's or Dance/R&B-Pop artists that can rock da house!!!

I just hope it all goes well for our artists,
maybe better & bigger than the 1st time around. Even if its not Freestyle they do anymore.
(Like India, Brenda K., & G.L., Marc, Shana)

These are just my personal thoughts, & I wish you all the best.
One,

I AGREE ALSO,BUT YOU KNOW THAT VIDEO'S COST MONEY,AND THEY HAVE IT,BUT ARE VERY GREEDY WHEN IT COMES TO SPENDING A DOLLAR.THEY LOVE WHEN THE MONEY COMES THERE WAY,BUT TO SPEND MONEY FORGET IT IT'S A LOST CAUSE.PUT ME ON A PROMO SCENE,I WOULD DEFINITLY GET THE JOB DONE.IT'S A SHAME THAT ARTIST'S DON'T GET THE PROPER RECONITION.THERE ARE SO MANY TALENTED ARTIST'S DOING THERE THING,AND DON'T GET THE PROPER EXPOSURE.I WISH FOR THE DAY MTV SHOWS ALITTLE LOVE TOWARDS FREESTYLE.HEY YOU NEVER KNOW,MAYBE ONE DAY SOON,BUT IN THE MEAN TIME KEEP ME POSTED ANYTHING THAT I CAN DO,I'M ALWAYS HERE TO HELP FREESTYLE OR ANY ARTIST FOR THAT MATTER.GOD BLESS:switch

Kylie, Daniel Bedingfield & Dirty Vegas have been in the music scene for quite a while now. They are not just new artists that have appeared out of nowhere. They have enjoyed success in their home countries & are now seeing that same success here in the US. I agree w/ you Company B that the freestyle artists are not given the same recognition as these dance artists. It's a shame. Perhaps if they did appear on Leno or TRL things may look a lot brighter. In order for them to do that, the artists need to at least be making noise in the clubs & on the radio.

we share the same point of view....and as far as costing money for such promotions yeah ur right maybe for independent labels its hard, but tka was on tommy boy....and tommy boy is a pretty decent ;abel with popularity and some money....they did vids for naughty by nature y cant they dish out something for tka.....tka "forever" could have been a mainstream success if the labels actually tried to push the album!!!

We Need That Promoted On MTV, BET, VH1, HBO & Showtime playmusic videos also so who ever reads this lets pump up the Freestyle. Well said by the way Company B

The video for Rockell's "What U Did 2 Me" would have been PERFECT for MTV, given its party atmosphere....I love it when she slams the door in the guys face at the end!

what might help is if an artist had a
1: Gimick, (appear in someones else video)
2: Get a part in a film.
3: Had a major producer from the Hip hop genre behind the scenes (Dr dre, P diddy.
4: Featured a decent rap by a current star. (Snoop dog, Slim shady, Nelly, P Diddy, etc..
5: Use familar samples in the music which other people can recognise.
6: Duet with a current artist from another genre.

THINK ABOUT IT, ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE NOT IMPOSSIBLE, JUST NEED SOME NEGOTIATIONS

yeah brit it would make it bigger but then in my opinion it wouldnt be freestyle....i dont want freestyle to turn into a smpling thing, and i dont want it to become rap...raps lifetime as i see it it doesnt have much left in it, and most of it nowadays blows..im cool with the idea of a duet that would be interesting....but this is all my opinion man!!!! the fact of the matter is freestyle has all it takes to become major in mainstream the only thing it lacks is money!! thats it! as puffy once stated "its all about the benjamins baby" plain and simple!!!!

I AGREEEEEEEEE!!!!!

YO COMPANY B.....
I AGREE WITH YOU 100%..............
THIS HAS TO BE DONE.........I LOVE WHAT YOU SAID,,.. ITS SOOOOO TRUE... KEEP IT UP.... WORDDDDDDD...... "E"😉

I agree 100%. I belong to Promo Only, a monthly cd service for dj's, and I always e mail the head programmer with new freestyle songs and suggestions for the "Rhythm Radio" series, a series that supposedly includes freestyle in its listings. The last real freestyle song (not breakbeat or 2 Step freestyle) that was included was "Can You Stand the Rain" by Safire on the December 2001 issue. There were so many strong releases after that....."Reminise" by Malyssa, "In Just One Night" by Sharyn Maceren, "Luck Star" by Primadonna, "All Alone" by Zoe, the Christina Marie release, the Lil Suzy and Collage release, etc. The problem isn't Promo Only because they e mail me back saying they haven't heard of half of the songs I suggested. These record labels should be sending their freestyle releases to Promo Only. They are a very respected and influencial part of the music industry. Just about every radio station in the country receives their cd's. Back in 97 and 98, the Rhythm Radio series was filled with new freestyle.....they included artists like Collage, Denine, George Lamond, Caprice, Cynthia, Kromozone Project, Safire, Paradigm, Science, Lil Suzy, and Rockell regularly. If freestyle makes it on their cd's, there is a good chance radio will add these songs.

He X, Like everyone else I agree.
Now, heres a thought.
What about having some of the hottest DJs remix a freestyle track?

TRACY YOUNG is the hottest out there right now.
Shes done everyone from MADONNA to Cyndi Lauper.
www.TracyYoung.com (Under Construction)

Then theres also, THUNDERPUSS www.Thunderpuss.com
I have had the opportunity to meet both Chris & Barry of Thunderpuss and they are great guys. Remix projects include everyone from Whitney, Madonna, Britney, J-Lo, Enrique, Cher and on and on.

Maybe if freesyle artists connected with them, maybe something would come out of it. Because these days anything with the names "Thunderpuss, Tracy Young, Junior Vasquez, Victor Calderon, etc attached to it becomes an instant hit. Look at TONY MORAN, now working for Gloria Estefans Company 🙂.......ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

Look at GIOIA, her next single is being remixed by 2 big DJs JUNIOR VASQUEZ and E-SMOOVE.

................Just a thought, but do you agree?

I agree with all of u. lol.
(thanx for your comments).

Remixing is a GREAT idea, but we need the original versions to hit the top first, & then have the fans crave the remixes.
(Or just put it all on the single).

About money & music videos, ....yes it does take money, not just for videos, but for promotion itsef, but TKA & Cytnthia are on major labels that make videos & are on MTV, & greedy or not, the strategy is:

- label spends some $$$ on video & promoting
- The artist gets out there & into the mainstream
- With good material & recognition, the artist makes it big, sales go up, & the label & artist gets paid, the label gets all their promo money back & then some, the fans approve, & everyone's happy!!!!
- THERE! -

Why would a label want to spend time & money on making an album with an artist, if they are not gonna promote it? Makes no sense.
If youre gonna do something, ....u must go all the way.

You cant just say: ..."Hey artist, lets cut an album, & then just sit back & sleep on it & not promote it, & see what happens."
>lol. (ya know?!)

About it all being Freestyle, it's impossible, & will not sell. Our artists have way more to offer than just Freestyle. They need to cut tracks that will appeal to todays audience:
R&B
Pop
Rock
Dance
Latin
& possibly have featured mainstream artists on the albums,
....& sneak in some freestyle tracks at the same time, wether on the album or singles, that way everyones happy.
& If big enuogh, they will be able to get away with realeasing a Freestyle flavored single to the public. : )

I just hope our peeps wake up & get out there.

I am aware that Kylie Minougue, etc, are been-known successes in their countries for sometime, I am a fan of those artists & keep track of them also - (I am a Universal music lover), but Marc Anthony, Enrique, & Shakira were successess in our Laitin countries, & virtually unknown to the Anglo mainstream market, .....BUT......look at them today.

To us Latino's, they are old & have "been known" about, but to the mainstream they are new.

Same way if one of our beloved Freestyle artists came out out now & hit it big, ...fans are goonna go crazy thinking they are this "new" thing, ...when to us, were gonna be like: ...."Plzz, we been known them!" -lol.

get it?

I just hope for the best, & wish them all the same!

- im out,

: )

If Marc, Brenda K, George L, Shana, India,
& others can do it

chrisz, you're right about having the record companies send promos out cause when I played in clubs way back in 80's, my brother and I used to get about 30-40 promos weekly and damn they were sending out garbage. We had a room in the house just for bull$h** records. We ended up donating all those records to the Sarvation Army.(11,000)promos and double copies to....PS company B, we thank you for being on our side, you write with such passion and enthusiasm...KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK..YOUR WORDS ARE DEFINITELY APPRECIATED...MUAHHHHHH

I agree too. thats always pissed me off! there's music and artists that suck MAJOR ass on MTV, etc , but no one will give freestyle a chance. THAT'S BULLSHIT!

hey I agree but thats why nuimage is doing their thing working their asses off to promote the album now it'a up to us to push it further and get it out there
