We can blame it all on Empire Music (formerly known as Hot Productions) and their new pop group "First Love"...Well it's really no surprise to me, I warned everyone 5 years ago that Hot Productions would be responsible for killing our music!

The original thread has been removed and replaced with this one. I hope everyone (except for Empire Music) finds this non-offensive.

You're welcome. The original thread has also been changed. It's new title is "BAD FREESTYLE REMAKE".

tacky just about does it,, u can also choose cheesy,, i feel bad for the group itself not to diss them but thats not the way they should have come out...just makes them look bad.

We need the Empire telephone # so we can all complain and take a stand
against crapstyle. Let's tell them how we feel and give them an
opportunity to show us quality freestyle.

If you have the # - post it up.

hmmm.......

Hmmmmm......

That remake is off the hook! (Can you hear the sarcasm?)

Remake of Johnny O., one of Laura Branigan.....they'll get far....

You think? My gaydar meter was in the red zone. As for the remake, I say we get whoever had the audacity to think of such a brain-dead idea, and hang him by his testicles. No, wait, that's too easy. I know!!! Let's get sticks and beat him like a pinata!!! Nah...he still gets off scott-free. HMMMM....Do the Russians still need to send someone into outer space? I mean, since Lance Bass wasn't able to!

While Johnny O is no superstar in my area of Canada, the freestyle remake of 'fantasy girl' in the 2 step genre is not the best production out there, but not that bad either for those who do not know the original; and there are tons of new freestylers out there in that predicament.

In my opinion, The First Love track certainly compares or is superior to the poor quality of the more recent Johnny O album; both are sub-par and a shame to freestyle genre.

And for the 'self control' remake, the short sample provided (track 1) is actually not bad although not innovative. The Laura Branigan song has been covered in freestyle over and over, most recently with MC G. Gabriel and Ceres in Germany. A lot of today's teens have no idea of the original and I find this remake is decent at best.

The label appears to have a huge roster of unknown rap singers and groups and this First Love pressing seems like another cd that will surely gather dust in the boxes at the back of empirewerks offices.

Stop getting your panty's in a bunch. Relax. Freestyle can't be any worse just because of a wack track/album that has been released. It's not like Freestyle music is going to get any better or worse, for that matter. I've totally stopped buying any new compilations or singles that have been put out over the years. I think the last Freestyle album I purchased was, DMA's Freestyle Mix 3- Tim Spinnin' Schommer.

If someone is gonna do a remake of a freestyle song, than at least do it justice, and make it comparable to the original.

however way anyone puts it: it's still wiggity wiggity wack!

next!

dma fs3 was also my last comp bought...
