ATTENTION EVERYBODY!

i repeat
ATTENTION EVERYBODY!

I HAVE SOME VERY BAD NEWS, AND I'M JUST GOING TO GET STRAIGHT TO THE POINT.

I'm currently listening to POWER 92.3 #1 for hip hop & r&b, As
THEY ARE NOW DOING THEIR PROJECT GROOVE SHOW, a dance music show that features the best in house, breaks, underground, drum & bass, trance...etc.

As of right now, I am listening to it, however,

By the time you read this post, it will no longer be in existence.

They have just announced that it's their last show, and that after 7 years of running, it's over for them.

I am hearing the sad people call in now..... I do not want to get into the whole history of how this dance show was created and what station really started this whole thing before getting bought out back in 1997..... I will just say that this is one of Arizona's last resorts to dance music getting support and airplay on the radio..... and I'm done. (If you wish, you may call this station at 602-260-6923 and voice your opinion about the situation, as many other people are also doing the same.- www.power923.fm -
You may also call 104.7KissFM at 602-260-1047 and voice your opinion there too, this station has removed all dance music from their playlist - www.1047kissfm.com -)
I would also like to announce that this will be my last post until further notice - I will no longer be posting for a while.

_also, I must also mention that CLUB FREEDOM in Arizona has shut down, this was the club sponsoring ENERGY 92.7/101.1 Arizona's dance radio, As that station is presently doing a GOODBYE TO CLUB FREEDOM weekend.

that's all.

stay posted for your future flava's updates...

that's terrible shymann i know how that feels we had a weekly tv dance show that changed format to urban & eventually got cancelled

It has nothing to do with ratings, as the program director has told me that the dance show has just "gotten in the way" of what they're doing. He also didn't fail to tell me that Power 92.3 #1 for hip hop & r&b is a station for hip hop & r&b - I'm so glad I was told because this really does prove that you learn something everyday. If he had not have told me that, I possilby would have never known! I guess now I have to either listen to Energy 92.7 that every other station is talking about for having a week signal, or listen online and find some new stations to listen to through streaming since Wild 94.9 is now out. I also must start making arrangements for paying for my own AOL account because they've been threatining to shut it off for over a month now and they want the owner of the account to pay, I am not the owner, and it does not seem like she will pay anytime soon... but as for now, it's hip hop & r&b on the weekends and energy during the week - only because the hip hop & r&b station is mixing live all weekend and that's what I'm in to. I've decided to not hate any of the stations and just accept it. After all I should be used to it after all the years I've lived in Atlanta and they never had any dance station until soon after I left, but at least now they are just beginning to get into it, it's blowing up there so it is still not accurate to say that dance music is dying yet. I've noticed even more dance being played there as time goes by.
_Eventually, 104.7kissFM is going to have to add some dance music to their format at some point once they figure out that something is wrong. Every weekend during the summer they're do a back in the day weekend of nonstop old school songs, where they also include classic dance songs, and when they find out that their weekend ratings are doing much better than their regular playlist, something will change. Obviously they must have had high weekend ratings during the back in the day weekends last summer because they are doing it again this summer, and every holiday weekend since then they've been just going back in the day. Also, last summer during the week days, the regular playlist just sounded like an updated version of their back in the day weekends. Now it's all different, the format has been changed twice since then. If someone were to visit Phoenix for a week, they would be confused because after they do an entire old school weekend of urban songs and dance on KissFM, they will switch to a very unusual playlist that's not really top 40 but also isn't rhythmic, stuck somewhere in between there as if they are just selecting certain songs they like and no dance music at all. They also don't even have any countdown shows here - rick dees, casey casem, hollywood hamilton,........etc. No countdown shows. K-lite 98.7 had a countdown show, but they no longer exist, they changed format last week, but I guess you can still hear some light rock music there. As much as I know radio stations and can pretty much predict what they will do after studying everything they do since I was a kid, I kind of know what they are eventually going to do, and I have a very strong feeling that 104.7 KissFM will last very long the way they are. Maybe the station and radio personalities will last, but their format will not. Also, that dance show that was lost (which means quite a few d.j.'s lost their jobs), I'm pretty sure they will pop up somewhere else - hopefully a new station and not kiss Fm or Energy because we need a true rhythmic station that can play urban music, and also play good dance music with it and during mix shows. We need a Party Station! KissFM needs to do their job and be top 40, which means playing the ENTIRE top 40 and not just certain songs, meaning also that if Kylie Minogue belongs there, they should play it also. Power 92.3 needs to continue to do their job and be a hip hop & r&b station - and add some real hip hop to their playlist and stop playing certain songs every hour, Energy needs to do their job a little better and not only bring back their mix shows, but also have a time slot for a breaks mix show, a new dance music show, a classic dance music show, and a freestyle music show. The alternative stations seem to be the only stations that have been having no problem doing their jobs, and that also goes for the spanish stations, light rock stations, oldies stations, family radio stations, NPR, jazz stations, and most of all, the country stations seem to be the ones that are most knowledgeable about what they are supposed to be doing. The Jammin' r&b/old school station I'm kind of wondering about because they play certain songs all the time and then there will be a whole set of old school songs that they wont play, but in other states those real r&b stations would play it. All the news talk stations, radio disney, and sports stations on a.m. radio also seem to have no problem doing their job - and radio disney even plays dance music!

I've also never heard of radio staions that play the exact same thing while broadcasting live from the club as they do on their regular playlist! Energy 92.7/101.1 doesn't do that - but they don't really have a club to broadcast from, it's more like a lounge/bar on Thursday nights. I really shouldn't complain because 104.7 could go back to the alternative staion they were back in 1995 and Power 92.3 could go back to the time when hip hop was not allowed to be on any radio stations in Phoenix.

Everything you hear in the mix is exactly what you hear on the radio (here in Phoenix), with an exception of a few classic songs here and there.
