Please help fellow LIers or moving experts or anyone...

If you guys remember, a while back I had mentioned some problems I was having with my neighbors downstairs. Well things were worse than I thought and I actually had to take my daughter down to file a police report and contact cps. My landlord at first was supposedly very upset, but now after talking to the tenants downstairs(who she had rented the apartment to because the lady is her pharmacist), she decided to believe them, even though I have been in my apartment for almost 7 years. They've become petty and are basically taking out revenge for us filing reports on them, my daughter doesn't even wanna go outside anymore. So now cause of these people, I gotta move. Right now I pay $960 for a two bedroom, including gas, water, oil, electricity. I need something in the same range. The only hope I've seen so far is in Brentwood. It's a little far, but if I can't find something affordable on the island, I'm stuck moving to southern Virginia where there are more pigs than people and freestyle is an olympic term; where the only music is heehaw music and there are no buses, trains or taxis. Advice please??????? And sorry if I make no sense...
 
Oh dayum. I'm so sorry to hear that. That really sucks to hold that against you when you did nothing wrong, you did what you had to do to protect yourself and daughter. Wish I could be of assistance, but unless you're moving to Jersey, I really don't know anything about LI or other parts of NY. Sorry. Wish I could be of help. I do hope that all works out for you and you don't have to move to Virginia.
 
How far are willing to move, & can you get a job transfer ?????
 
Neighbors suck. In NY, we've always had problems with the people downstairs. If we drop something, the music is too loud or the dogs are running around playing, they come upstairs complaining. And it can be 12 noon and they still bitch. The husband has even told my mom he was gonna kill us. She called the police and made a complaint so now he cant come near us.
 
I did a thread on them back on April 5...the situation is a lot worse than I thought though. The ideal situation would be to stay on Long Island, my family's here and my son is buried in Southampton. Right now I just baby-sit, switching jobs wouldn't be too hard, but for my boyfriend it would be. So if I leave the island, it would probably have to be without him and that sucks cause he's been living with me for more than a year. I already have someplace I can go to in Virginia, but I don't wanna take my daughter away from everyone she knows.

Wow, thanks everyone...Sexyangel that house in Mastic Beach sounds really good for us, it's only about 15 minutes from where I live too. I'm gonna be calling that one today.

I don't mind Brentwood, but my ex's brother's hang there with the MS-13 members, but it's a big town too. Mostly it just sucks looking for something in a rush.
 
Don't move...go to court call the news but do not let these people push you out of your home!!
 
Good luck Dianita. I know it's tough but it may be better that you do move and get away from them crazy people that caused you a major nightmare. It's for the sake of your daughter. I know you'll find an apartment and hopefully you'll be happy too.
 
Thanks LaBetty. I'm just worried cause when I separated, my credit got really thrown off and with my novio being an illegal, that might be kinda hard. I think for me being in the same house for 7 years counts for something. I wonder how much I should tell a prespective landlord???

If your boyfriend is illegal,then don't tell any landlord. I know what you mean about credit and it's hard. You should ask your landlord right now for a reference letter regarding your rent status. I would. 😉

As for my move, it's over. The long drive is over anyway. I'm still settling. Will take a while but it's all good right now. 🙂
 
Alot of the places I've seen want a credit check, and I don't know how to explain his status. I was hoping a letter from his employer or check stubs would suffice. My daughter's sad at the idea of leaving her school and this is where she grew up, but she's excited too.
 
Man you pay alot for an apartment!!! Overhere you can pay 465 gor a 2 bedroom apt. Dont suppose you want to move to california?

you could prob stay in my building. i have offered this before but no one wants to live in new jersey llllolll. think about it the max rent here is 700 a month. 1 block from the bus depot Last stop into city. accross the street from major post office hub 1 block from dunkin donuts. and 1 block from what use to be one of the biggest hangouts in the 80's bergerline ave.

now loaded with illegal aliens. oh well at least you get to see the area where freestyle first landed in nj llloll. ahhhhhh yes union city.

oil is free. double key entry. outside door bells. I have complete air supremecy in this building. meaning no one is permitted to utter a sylabol after 10 pm. or they face

immediate legal expulsion. Or I.E. neighbor to neighbor drama does not exist. llloll.

avg tenant here is 12 years.

and out side door bells?. meaning person can come into the building unless you buzz em in.

and back yard for barbeque's. and parking lot one block away for 80 bucks a month.

cant make it any better than that ?

also storm windows. nice clean basement. your own heater for your apartment. meaning your own boiler.

have to be ready with 3 months security in advance.

also might be looking for a roomate in 4 months. looking to loose my family rent llloll.

think theres one vacancy on the 4 th floor have to check with the corporation. who owns it. or my aunt lllllollll. cuase we always loose some one in the fall.

what i really want is a temp roomate for like 2 months. then she could go somewhere else. ?

i dont think anyone wants to live in new jersey anyway. much less new yorkers what im really looking for guys more than anything is a hit and run roomate.

some one who needs to stay here for like 3 weeks or 6 weeks. that type of thing. i hate that my aunt makes me pay rent here. at least not this much 400 llloll 250 thats ok lloll.

its a real pain in the ass. and it waists my time. cuase that money could be going to pay off my last remaing loan. which im 3 months away from.

and really from saveing money. so if there was hit and run type out there that be great for me. you know 3 weeks till they find another pad? lloll.

than i could just straight out bank in my apartment. as is right now the rent is like 2 or 3 days work for me. llloll. id like to have ideally

30 calander days of straight banking. meaning all money goes in the bank lloll.
 
Rbonuc, thanks for the offer, but I really wanna try to stay on Long Island. If I absolutely gotta leave the house, my dad left us is in Virginia. It needs like $2000-$3000 worth of repairs and then I could live there basically for free.

I know too, if I try to leave the island, my daughter's father would start crap even though he lives in the same town and hasn't seen her for 5 months.

I talked to the owner of the house in Mastic Beach and he gave me the address to check it out, and if we like it, we can make an appointment to see it. My credit report is kinda sucky right now, and I've been late with my rent a few times, but I'm talking about a few days, nothing big and I've been here for 7 years. I hate moving around alot. We've done alot of the home improvements here, and we've done the outside maintenance for the whole property ourselves. It's not like we're moving because of a financial burden.

no i was only kidding anyway. i dont think theres a vacancy here. i didnt think those people up stairs would last as long as they did. usually top floor. is the most shakey floor. people come and go. but these people have built roots up there lloll.

i guess i was advertising more toards a room mate. thats what i really need. a hit and run room mate. some one in your situation would be perfect? somebody who could stay here.

that would be great for me. but what can i do. guess everybody has a problem.
