SO who here follows hockey?

I gotta say last night was an amazing game. Leafs beat Montreal 3-2... and wow how did they play! Beautifully!

That was a good game last night... I have the NHL package out here so I get all their games !!!

I hate the new rule changes... it's like every other minute there is someone in the penalty box.. that is ridiculous...

Leafs Rule !!!

yeah i know... and considering Toronto doesn't know how to use the penalty time wisely, it doesn't help!!

Actually, the new rule changes are the reason the hockey is more entertaining now. The penalties are just a short term pain until the players learn what they can and cannot do.

Otherwise, we would be watching the same old boring, clutch and grab hockey that we were watching before the lockout (Which is also the reason I pretty much stopped watching hockey for the last 2 or 3 years).

Once the players get used to the new rules, the penalties will drop (assuming the NHL sticks with their rigid enforcement of the rules for the whole season - which I'm not 100% convinced they will).

are you serious?! wow i always get aggrivated with them during the penalties

I personally prefer the hard hitting and the grinding... the only rule I like the removal of the two line pass... that does help open it a little bit.. (I think they should add the automatic icing rule... a lot of players are getting hurt needlessly)

But it's too open... it seems like half the guys are skating around in circles... not knowing what to do half the time.. whereas in the old rule.. they would find the nearest player and take them out !!! The goalies are going crazy right now... i's like a shooting gallery...

Hockey is a physical sport... it's tight grinding and checking game.... (at least it was)...

To me, that's like saying hey.. let's change the rules in soccer too, so we can have more scoring !!!

Soccer needs some rules to be changed like allowing officials to make camera calls but this is a hockey thread so I won't start there lol

TBomb---I think players are still trying to get used to the new game (as said before) once they do we'll be glad the rules changed

The new rules aren't designed to take hitting out of the game, only the clutching and grabbing. If anything, there should be more hitting now because the players are actually allowed to skate.

Before, when you tried to hit someone, his teammate would run interference on you to hold you up. You couldn't get up any speed or momentum. Now, you can actually build up a head of steam, so theoretically, you should start seeing more big hits.

I went to the Oilers opening game here in Edmonton and although not the hoopla and flash that comes with games in Toronto or Montréal; I was impressed. And naturally, I cheer for the Oilers and later in the season, the Calgay Flames as they have a stronger team overall.

Hey, if the hitting comes in, then that would be great... I just don't see enough of it. As long as they don't try to 'wussify' the sport then it is okay... I am afraid the rule changes might do that...

I think they made too many rule changes at one time... the players are thinking too much about what they can do and can't do... they start forgetting about the game itself.

Classic match up yesterday....Bruins VS the Habs the habs came from behind to take it what a game! I love watching original 6 teams play against each other
