There's so much talent out here and yet I don't see any one taking advantage to have these artists into consideration. Pleanty of show coming soon, And none of these artists are being called. Clubs don't help out much, I've try here in Texas trying to get a few acts down here, but again not much help nor support. I see that Ashley is coming out with new music, Nick Colon, Ayna, Nu Image, Ruben Gonzales, Jeanette, Willie Valentin, Synthia Figueroa, Freeze, Poze, Mickey Garcia is releasing stuff out, Latin Nation is recording, and has anybody seen Artie and Legit perform? They full of energy!! And all the oldschool has new material and yet I have not heard or seen them perform those song. Which is sad, cause they are hot. Can someone put some light into this situation. Thank you so much
Sincerely
Roger Garcia

Roger, as you know, it is hard to book an act into a club unless they have or have had airplay. If the act is local, and charge $1,000, and, the club charges $10 for admission, they have to have 100 people come to that club JUST to see the act, to make that $1000 back. 100 people that would not go if that act was not there. Then, throw into it the cost of radio ads and flyers. When the act is onstage, there is very little action at the bar so they are losing money when people are watching the show. That is why you see clube not doing multiple acts often.
Now when the act is from out-of-state, add airfare, limo, hotel and meals from 2-5 people.

There are some of the reasons why it is not easy to book a "NEW" act...

Kinda true. But I dont know of any new acts that charge 1000 for a show. its roughly between 250 to 700 for the more known new acts. But its very hard for new acts to get any shows period without radio play.

Here is my take...

The problem is there is no business to freestyle. Right now its a novelty and not really taken serious but there is interest in the corporate music world, I know because I researched it. Its a new era and with new times comes new ways of thinking and functioning and what needs to happen is that the genre has to be professionalized. Artist are coming out with product but there is no product strategy, no real product planning and marketing. This game beleive it or not is a business and in business there is ethics and standard procedures that are not being respected. I have spent a decade mastering the art of marketing and business strategies with regard to selling or representing people and products and how it should be applied to products that have been dormant and classified as diamonds in the rough. No one wants to gamble on a could be or a maybe. Hip Hop artist are getting by easy because the thresh hold was broken already.

Bottom line is that for an artist or independant label to succeed its going to have to take more than vocal talent. Its going to take the art of business to succeed. Major labels are meticulate on who they sign and support. For the Independant labels are usually the refuge for these artist that do not get picked up by bigger labels but then what happens is that Indepandant labels sign or work with an artist unsigned (which is never advisable) and produce a lesser or untrained unmatured quality which then weakens the market. Major labels have already backed off and it will take that one shining star to restore their faith before they start picking up other artists, I beleive history can repeat itself.

Straight up, the future of this genre is in the hands of independant labels and their business integrity to produce the highest of quality and introduce it to the market. Once that happens other labels and distributors will take notice and I think we all agree that if that one example succeeds then that is good for everyone relevant with respect to this particular market we affectionately call freestyle.

OK, this message was a little wordy but I am interested to hear other points of views.
