This week is the last week for Dan Rather hosting The CBS Evening News. Peter Jennings is left in the big three of Evening Anchors. Brian Williams took over for Brokaw on NBC. It was rumored that Dan was Forced out because of the false report about GW Bush. Looks like DC guy and Face The Nation host; Bob Sheifler will be on temporarly. It shows how bad Local and National news has fallen because of 24/7 news channels.

He did very well on his final broadcast. He left strong. I have to say I have respect for Dan Rathers work through the years. In the 60's and 70's before Evening News, he covered some really hard stories like Segregation in The South, Vietnam, Watergate, President kennedy's assasination. I was 5 when he took over Evening news for Walter Chronkite.

I'm sure he won't be "Gone" he will have specials.... make appearances, etc.

no, that will not be hung on him, but he needs to do something else. If he doesn't, that will be what he will be remembered for.

I know Bob Shieffer(Face The Nation) will be on temporaly. He said that he don't want to do Evening news permanently. CBS is thinking about doing a two-three man cast. I hope not, back in the late 70's, early 80's; ABC tried that with World News Tonight. That sure went well.LOL
