Hello Freestyle World! What’s up mi gente? It’s Swins Fontenelle, the Freestyle Authority from Freestyle Universe and Freestyle Universe Annex on facebook.com rollin’ through (catchin’ a breeze in this oppressive heat) with that Freestyle word!! First let me say that I have the pics from the recent Onna Roll Records freestyle reunion at Sidetracks “Home of Freestyle Fridays” in Sunnyside, Queens (check them out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/swins/). You can’t keep a good thing down and that’s why I have to let you know about a number of exciting things going on venue-wise in Freestyle, but before I do that let me mention that I’ve been fortunate enough to get acquainted with a hot new group that I’m dubbing the new Latin Rascals called the Beat Bangers! I’ll be bringing them out on Freestyle Universe on the Aurelia Show on Time Warner Cable (in NYC) real soon! Anyways, back to the venues: on Friday, July 23rd the excellent Brenda K. Starr will be at Sidetracks (45-08 Queens Blvd @ 46th Street) in a show that you’re not gonna want to miss! On Tuesday, July 27th Freestyle Universe invites and encourages all the freestyle artists, labels, producers, etc. to attend our 3rd Industry workshop in Manhattan where we plan to discuss some new exciting campaigns to gain more exposure for Freestyle music (for details go to the events section of Freestyle Universe Annex on facebook.com). On Thursday, July 29th Freestyle Universe hopes that everyone will want to be a part of the studio audience as we collaborate with Michaela TV on the launch of that program with the first airing being episode 1 of the New York Freestyle series! Last but not least on Friday, July 30th Fever Records is having a slammin boat ride around Manhattan with the unstoppable Sammy Zone and songbird: Synthia Figueroa (for more info. go to the events section of Freestyle Universe Annex).
