Hey all,

Well over the past couple of years Ive noticed something with some freestyle compilations. There are certain songs that are on these cds that arent really freestyle. Well to me the sound more trance like or euro like. Some examples are; I see stars by Robin Fox, a few songs by Anthony Norris, a version of True love never Dies. Maybe this is the change of freestyle I dont know but when I think freestyle I tend to think of the classic sound, but there is some new freestyle out there that sounds similar to the old stuff. as in it sounds like freestyle like ceres, elissa, rockell, sweet tb, zoe like their new songs have that freestyle flavor to it. So how to these other songs find them selves on freeestyle compilations...
 
The reason, as I see it, is that the fans are more open to what can be considered "new" freestyle songs. They are all for the change....in it's general sound, BPM range, etc. I am personally against the direction in which freestyle has taken at times as of late. It's not "evolution" if it isn't clearly freestyle. This is a topic in which there are many opinions. I'm just sharing mine. I think it's been heading downward by it's changes over the last few years, not upward. It's funny...I used to dislike west coast freestyle. With this euro crap, wanna be freestyle, I'm starting to take a liking towards much of the west coast freestyle. I suppose I can appreciate it more considering what's coming out and being labeled as freestyle.

In my opinion, Canada and to a limited extent,Germany and Brazil have taken a lead in adopting electro, planet rock, breakbeat and 2 step, in addition to the classic latin sound as an integral part of the freestyle sound and movement. Remixes of acts like Robin Fox (freestyle mix on the cd single), Sonique, Astroline, Qu-Zar, Lasgo, etc. are part of our sound's evolution up here, with major label pressing and nationwide retail record store exposure. Freestyle remixes of eurodance and trance records are vital to create new converts to our sound, especially the record buying youth demographic.

I have the Freestyle Heaven Vol 4 cd and its amazing!!! But like Vol 3 there are a few songs that dont sound like freestyle, like the remix of the Lasgo song and the Orion Too, the are remixed but do not sound like freestyle, I just dont get how they could be on a freestyle compilation, they are good songs dont get me wrong but...
 
Hey Gina; if you like the DRC Mix for Lucky Star by Prima Donna, it falls in the same category of remixes as Lasgo, Astroline, Qu-zar, etc. That's part our freestyle sound up here in Canada. I am glad you like Freestyle Heaven vol. 4, it is nice to see a freestyle mega hit in the top 5 on the radio!
 
yeah i know cuz the original of the prima dona song sounds like freestyle but i guess that is the sound up here cuz most of our freestyle sounds like that i just think it should be classified, like trance there euro-trance, trance, classic-trance, progressive-trance and so on i think the different types of freestyle should be classified but thats just my opinion cuz i know that this topic has been discussed before and people are very passionate about naming freestyle so its just my opinion
 
that AEIOU song by Freeze is on one of my freestyle comps. it doesnt sound at all like freestyle
