First of all, Happy xmas & new year to everyone.

i would like to know what everybody thought of freestyle this year, this includes the singles, albums, cover art, concerts, web sites, Dvd releases etc etc etc.

Has there been any good releases that have taken a step forward for the genre & has there been more inclusion of freestyle/breakbeat type mixes on other artists releases. (Do you believe including freestyle mixes helps the genre?)

I would especially like to see jacks opinion on this.
 
The Release Of The Cutting Double Cd Was O.k. Badboy Joe's Were Off Da Hook And The Power 96 Was Good. Freestyle Heaven Vol.5 Has A Few Great Tracks On It. So I Think This Really Helped A Lot. Knowing That Mic Mac Is Back And Cuttings Records Is Back Is Good News.
 
the best story this year for t-dot was the planetfreestyle compilation and their concerts.. unfortunately other than that i dont think freestyle music's ever gone through such a low point in a long time here in 03.

Well 2003 Has Come And Gone And Freestyle Is Still Trying To Get The Momentum It Once Had Avery Long Time Ago.when You Have Stations Playing The Same Old Songs From Back In The Day People Get Tired.everybody Has Every Song Played On The Radio In A Mixture Of Dozens Of Cds.radio Stations Need To Embrace The New School More Otherwise Freeestyle Will Go Just Like The Days Of Disco.im Am Sick Of Hearing The Same Old Songs From People That Dont Even Manufacture New Material.i Personally Embrace New School Freestyle Only. Rosch- hey I have to say I'm so glad to see what you wrote and i agree with a lot of what you said. I didn't hear a lot of new stuff that was much good in 2003 but I'm still a believer that Freestyle music is alive. There is one artist especially who gives me hope and that's Jennifer Glass. I heard her song Dreamin several months ago and was blown away! This song needs the support of the freestyle community. Not only has she given Freestyle music a powerhouse song, she's broken the mold for female freestyle artists. I recommend you visit her web site to get to know more about her.

Hey Sandygirl I Agree With You About Jennifer Glass. I Beleive That She Is One Of The Best Things To Come To Freestyle Music In A Long Time.but Its A Shame That Radio Stations Wont Give Her The Airplay She Rightfully Deserves.i Will Be Here To Support You Jennifer Glass. Dont Worry About That.
 
In a sense, I've kind of given up on Freestyle. It's come to the point where I'm just basically bored with it.

In 2003, I was exposed to a few artists that I felt had/have a distinct style to them and with the proper marketing, management, and exposure they could definitely take Freestyle well into the next decade.

I took it upon myself to search for the sound I like, that I felt comfortable with. Artists' such as Ashely, Synthia Figueroa, and Sharyn Maceren have opened my ears to something totally different. And you know what? I like it. The production and vocals are on point, and I really don't care what label their assigned to, or who produced them. They can stand on their own ground.

I was also exposed to a whole different genre of music- Electro-Clash/Electro. I love all types of music, Freestyle just happens to be my main preference, but I don't see any effort being made by any of the old artists themselves. So, with that, I'm going to end this. I can buy all the Freestyle albums in the world, but it won't change anything.

I don't think they fail misreably, it's just that people dont give them a chance to try out new stuff, when they do they get trashed for trying it, because everyone is so used to hearing a certain sound from them.

I like alot of the new stuff i hear, but i have yet to hear anyone make something astounding, to make people take notice. As for Jennifer Glass breaking the Female freestyle mold, sorry... there has yet to be someone to go out there and knock out the old school divas. Dont' get me wrong I have heard Jennifers song, and have seen her at the light up Orlando thing, and she was good, I liked her song alot, but there wasn't anything amazing about it, but I do have to say that she was the best out of the ones that were performing, except for the kings😉

Its Pathetic.this Is One Of The Reasons Why I Wont Support Old School Artists Anymore.somebody New Comes Out And They Have To Dis Them . I Beleive That Jennifer Glass Is An Amazing Singer. This Coming Year I Do Believe That She Will Explode On The Seen. Cant Wait To See You Whenever You Come Out To Ny. I Will Be Supporting You 150%. Shoutout To Jennifer Glass With Coming Out With New Music When Other People Sit There And Hate .i Have Noticed One Thing Through The Years Is That There Are Alot Of Old Schoool Artists That Hate On New School Artists Because They Are Afraid That The New People Will Be Bigger And Better Than They Were. LMAO I know your not talking about me? if anyone here on this board knows that I support the new school more than any "New Fan" I am always pushing the New school to do thier thing, when asked who to get for the concerts that Angel use to throw at BLiss, I always gave him the new artists like, Ahsley, LatinNation, Ayna, and so on.please get it straight let not get things twisted. NO one was dissing Jennifer glass by a long shot, I was reading where sandygirl said that she broke the cf female freestyle mold..AND OH HELL NAH, not by a long shot. she was good, as I stated before, I like her song very much, but let's not get ahead of ourselves ok? there isn't any dissing going on just stated facts. Listen it's ok if not everyoen likes Jennifer, not everyone can like evrything you lilke, but Don't ever say I am dissing new school.

Secondly, I am not afraid of new school doing there thing or becoming bigger and better, please..lolol, first you would need a daily rotation of a freestyle song on the radio to become better or bigger than the old shcool, and again not tryign to diss any new school artist cause they all know where i stand with them, but if only the old school is being played even after 10 15 20 years, what makes you think anything will change now? you wanna talk about being a diehard freestyle fan, diehard freestyle fans, are people like Krystal, francis4evafreestyle,sexyangel, people that love freestyle wether it's old or new, WHO will continue to support an artist no matter where they go in thier career, whether they stay in freestyle or not, they forgive words said in anger or frustration at one point, not lash out. Now Why Is It That The Moment Someone Doesnt Agree With Anothers Opinion It Becomes Hating. Be For Real. If Anything When It Comes To Naya, She Has Always Shown New School Love And Has Never Try To Put Anyone Of Them Down. But I Have To Agree With Her, There Is No One Out There That Has Can Take The Place Of Our Freestyle Legends. No One Has Come Close. So Please Cut The Bullshit Out And Lets Move On.

Show me again where there's hatin goin on? All I saw was someone offering a PROFESSIONAL opinion. Who better to offer that than one of our beloved old school artists?

Rosch this isn't the first time you try to jump all over an old school artist in this forum...without them there would be NO NEW SCHOOL. Show respect when you post.

As for not supporting the old school...ever think that may be one of the reason's along with many others that freestyle is in the state its in today? Hmmm something to think about.
