FREESTYLE MONDAYS ON HOT97

Just to let you guys know, last friday I called HOT97 and spoke to STAR of the morning show. I asked if he had been playing dance music some weeks back , and he replied " YEAH, WHERE THE HELL YOU BEEN AT" He said he's been putting freestyle here and there, and was actually hanging out with "GEROGE LaMOND" a couple of weeks ago.He said HOT97 will be doing "FREESTYLE MONDAYS"in the morning part of the show.I mentioned that people were tuning in when he was playing freestyle and have been talking about him "STAR" playing freestyle, he responnded " are you serious" I sad hell yeah. He wanted to know the sites to check them out . So I say call up the morning show on mondays and request some freestyle , and lets see what happens.

Mr. Sexual Fantasy himself. Congratulations with Nu Image and I wish you guys all the best in the very near future. Keep bangin 'em out. Also keep hittin up Star. They are sure to be looking for a way to distance them selves from their new and unwanted competition Power 105.1....Who knows what they may be wiiling to try to gain an edge.

What's that I hear... could it be? It's getting louder....
It's the freestyle "comback" train picking up steam!!!

Now with power 105.1 on the air, Im sure Hot 97 will be
looking for a way to make themselve's diffrent and bringing
back freestyle would definately see fit. Especially with
the legends of freestyle making a comeback.

Thank you Tybless,for your words. I will definatelly try to keep banging them out.
I don't know what Hot97 is upto, but some change towards dance music would diffinatelly be nice. I just think that if they play a little to test the waters , and received positive feedback , who knows what could come out of it.

What time does this Freestyle show start on Monday mornings with Star???

I ususally listen to Howard Stern - so I need to know when to tune in.

Come on guys! A grassroots attempt to help this genre where we can is needed. Call, email and start making real noise. We might not be able to get a station to change their formats but we would at least be able to get them to see that there is still room and listeners and buyers out there. 🙂

I heard "In Paradise" by Laissez Faire this morning and nearly gagged on my water.. I thought it was a commercial for the Culture Club (nite club) or a gag before the joke-off by Goumba Johnny..

Alas - it was Freestyle and that was about it..

I thought when Hot 97 was talking about Freestyle they were talking about Rappers Freestyling on the mic - such as the Jay Z vs. Nas Freestyle Raps.

I didn't think they meant our Freestyle Music.

Im happy to hear Hot 97 is gonna be playin freestyle. Since they are now competing with Power 105.1 this will make them different and hopefullt draw in more people.

That's what i thought too...

But even if they played some freestyle songs, I really don't think they'd be put in regular rotation. They'd just be part of Star's show. I wonder if they think this will give Power some competition on the morning show. Are there really that many Hot97 listeners who want to hear freestyle?

Let's see how they respond.
