while listening to 100.7fm from puerto rico via the web, they announced a "freestyle 15 years later" concert.

they hope to have it during may or june. no venue has been announced as of yet. they are asking callers to request who they would like to see perform.

i remember puerto rico being super supportive of freestyle music so it's great to see that they still remember!!

I have vacation time in june so I would like to see Cynthia,Johnny O,Judy Torres,Corina,TKA,George Lamond,Coro,Lisette Melendez...and some of the nu school like-Nu Image, Ashley,Sharyn Maceren and to mix it up a lil,2 whithout hats and tito puente jr.What does everyone else think???
 
Yup; it's all over the island; Mickey Garcia and Baron Lopez were on the mix. I can't tell you how many of my peeps and fam called.

Puerto Rico throws great concerts; they even throw awesome hip hop concerts; 50 cent is going to be in PR for a show on Thursday i believe. At least that's what i heard.

I'd like to see Saffire; Saffire and Saffire perform.
 
I was very surprised to hear about this concert - I'll be listening to them again next saturday.

If Safire is approached (and I'm sure she will be), i really hope she comes out of freestyle retirement for this show. Puerto Rico would love to see her again - She's one of the few freestyle artist that was actually born in Puerto Rico!

THIS IS AS TRUE AS THAT RAIN FALLS FROM THE SKY.

DJ Baron Lopez and I had a short chat about this event on that specific day when they annouce it on the radio.

It's gonna be the mother of all shows!

15 years ago X-100 and Baron Lopez had on stage:
Judy Torres
Maribell
LA Girls
Nelson FFWD
and others I can't remember.

Maybe they'll bring them again with more artist (hope Noel and Cynthia and TKA will be there) and here is the charm.... Baron is trying to get the top DJs of Puerto Rico from the late 1980s and early 90s to mix at the show (and I'm one of the lucky ones). It's gonna be a BLAST!!!!!!!!!!

I think the station has a reunion concert in mind with the artist that have made freestyle what it is - names that will draw a crowd.

I'm 40 years old and have never been to the island-though apparently I have family there...it would make for a nice vacation...a nice mix of old and new artists would work...Can't forget Ayna and Ashley to go with TKA, George, Cynthia, etc...
 
I think it will be more of artist that had hits between 1987 and 1991. The right person to answer these questions is Baron Lopez. Maybe you should call Baron this friday @ Latino mix and ask him.

Yeah, i think that in Puerto They are drawn by the artist between
87-91...those are the years i used to go to "menudo" parties in the
island..and all they played was the Ol' school...when i went last year..
..that's all they were still playing... maybe they'll try to bring
2 or 3 new school to give them a taste of the new?..that would be
great..😉 but for the most part, i think it may be about the Ol'.
 
I believe former Metropolitan Records recording artists Chereé falls in this category.. Let's see what happens from here to then. One thing is for sure, if this takes place and they bring out all of the old school artists, it’s gonna be a hell of a concert. I lived in PR when Freestyle was strong there and the artists that got heavy rotation were Expose, Cover Girls, Noel, TKA, Lydia Lee Love and I remember the big concert I believe it was in Roberto Clemente it was awesome to see all the fans singing all the songs along with the artists. It's also a great opportunity to bring to them Latin Freestyle (Spanish lyrics). When Cheree and I traveled there last year to promote my album they heard her Spanish track "Porque La Vida Es Asi" and they loved it and wanted to air it. This is going to be big!!!
