Back in the late 80s I would listen:listen these mixes on either Hot 103 or Hot 97 ( Before they wasdsmoke corruptted) in N.Y.
They would have mixes that were so kool they were no tinterrupted with D.J. talking over the mix (well not too much)
I would tape these things every weekend and play them over and over.
Now what I notice back in the day the mixes did not play freestyle songs (with lyric's) back to back to back.
They played extended version, dub version of the song , house music and what I call "Freestyle Breakbeats"

Examples:

Hashim - Chateau Vie (Castle Life) This song is off the meat rack on Cutting Remixes - Volume 1 LP
(Dammm! I wish i never lost this album)
Orange lemon - Texican:texican / Dreams of santana

Bad Boy Orchestra - Do You Wanna Dance (arroz con pollo)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Im just wondering if anyone knows of any these artist of these Breackbeat songs

1.)??? - Breakdown ( some guy goes YAAAAAAAAAAA! in the middle of song lol) ---

2.)??? - Alright Alright

3.)??? - Yo chuck ( get the hoe, get the hoe):huh

or any kind a Breackbeat they would mix with freestyle but only in the late 80's.

2) Probably Masters At Work "Alright Alright" Fourth Floor 1987 produced by Todd Terry...also Masters At Work "Dum Dum Cry" had the Alright Alright samples in it..Fourth Floor 1987

3) Gangsters Of Freestyle "Get The Hoe" Under World 1988 (Frankie "Bones", Lenny Dee and Tommy Musto

#1 also sounds like something that Todd Terry produced.

If any of you are into "Funky Breaks"... check out anything by DJ Icey from Florida or DeeKline from the UK.

Ah yeah... DJ ICEY beats rock!! I'm a big fan of his techno beats.
