Check out my website: B91, The Rhythm of the City

I set it up as an alumni site for all of the people that used to work at WKRB. I've put up a music list as well as audio clips from back in the day.

Let me know what you think.

Hi Jparker..

I once went to a party that B91 had years and years ago..

I am kind of thinking it was on Bath Avenue somewhere, but I may be confusing it with a confirmation party LOLOLOL

Anyways.. I never worked for B91, but I was a huge fan back in the day..

Your site is great as well JP!

i used to LOVE b91, if memory serves me correct you guys were a brooklyn station, correct??

new york needs a station like b91 again!!!

You are correct the station was based in Brooklyn. With DJ's like: Geronimo (WKTU), Speedy (WKTU), Mickey Garcia (Mic Mac), Tracy Cloherty (PD at Hot 97), Ralphie Marino (ex-WKTU), etc all before they were famous 🙂. If you check out the picture secion of the site you can see a very young Speedy. Then known as Dr. Doom!!!

I went to B91 recently and asked them to play
freestyle. They looked at me funny.

We miss you old schoolers. You guys made it all happen.

Great Web Site. Thanks for taking the time to put it together.

If you can jparker, please show all of us here at CF
some support and link to http://www.ClubFreestyle.com
It would be Much Appreciated.

"THE RHYTHM OF THE CITY B91!!!" I owe a lot of my knowledge of dance music to B91 when I was just a little kid running around the streets of Sheepshead Bay with my Panasonic radio/tape recorder. I wish I still had those tapes I taped on friday and saturday nights!!! Where else could you hear those great dance songs that weren't "mainstream" enough for Hot 103? I remember listening to Loose Touch, April, Jasmin, Joey Kidd, Fascination....Great website by the way John!

My sister was a huge freestyle fan when B91 was very popular. I remember her listening to it all the time...it was kinda hard to get the station from our house...she would do anything to get the antenna just in the right position to hear it well!!! And thats how I got hooked on freestyle! She still has some tapes of B91 freestyle!!! Ahhh those were the times!!!

Glad to see you guys remember the station and that we were able to make a few of you Freestylers for life. 🙂

Jack: I'll put up the link next time I get a few minutes.

Freestygal: I'd love to have a copy of those tapes for my archieves. Let me know if we can arrange something.

Have a great day!!!

That would be great. If it happens, I'll send both of you a rare Freestyle collectable from my collection.
