So what was the first purchased tape, cd or 12 u got that was freestyle lol we know the mix tapes were hype but wut was the first bought material

mine was a tape from linear i dont remember the name but it had sending all my love on it and some other songs but the tape has since been lost

my first cd was stevie bs funky melody that my cousin bought for me when she went down to nyc i still have it and actually played it when i went out today in the car lol

i dont own ne freestyle 12'' i have others but not freestyle

My first freestyle purchase was Joées's first album Intonation feat. Joee - music...Just a taste.

Prior to that, I owned a ton of 12" singles, especially as a teen in the 80's but I did not know it was freestyle; just american dance.

The first twelve freestyle 12" singles I had were

Shannon - Let the music play
Shannon - Give me tonite
Freeze - A.E.I.O.U.
Paul Hardcastle - 19
Lisa Lisa and cult jam w/ full force - I wonder I I take you home
Sweet Sensation - Hooked on you
Nu Shooz - I Can't Wait
Nancy Martinez - for tonight
Company B - Fascinated
Noel - Silent morning
Exposé - Come go with me
Pet shop boys - domino dancing (latin rascalz remix)

Until I stopped stocking up on vinyls, I had over 5000 dance titles.

mine was definetly EXPOSE. fist came the album on cassette then the 45's. i think LISA LISA followed. God, I remember good ol COLUMBIA HOUSE!! Thats where i got most of my stuff!

yeah i actually got a lot from columbia house...well i was young i would harass my mom to get it for me cuz a lot of those cds were unavailable or hard to find up here in canada...it was easier and cheaper to get it thru columbia house lol

"Exposure" from Expose started it all for me.Everyone I knew had that tape.

The first one I or should I say we "my brother and I" had was AEIOU by Freeze. After years of being hidden in the garage I found it not too long ago unfortunately not only was it scrathed to shit but i think the moisture got to it...Damn!! that thing was original too, I mean we actually went to buy it when we were kids!!

🙁

The first freestyle tapes I remember buying were Exposure by Expose and Party Your Body by Stevie B. But my sister had some TKA casette singles and thats what really got me hooked on freestyle...Scars of Love, One Way Love, and Tears May Fall!!

Randi (FreestyleGal)

DJ Thunder - Freestyle Vol 1...

I think it went like this > Rockell, In a Dream > Stevie B, Funky Melody > LiL' Suzy, Memories > Cynthia, If I Had the Chance > Corina, Summertime Summertime...etc...

you used to hold me

I believe the first 12" i ever bought was you used to hold me and aeiou by freeze!i remember playing those out! lol:mdance

My first Freestyle album was Shannon's "Let the music play".
My first Freestyle 12" record was Cyre's "Last Chance" and Expose's "Come go with me".
My first Freestyle CD was Safire self-titled debut.
My first Freestyle CD maxi single was Rockell's "I fell in love".

oops....first Freestyle cassette I ever bought was Nocera's "Over the rainbow".

...My first was Safire,2nd was Will to Power..3rd was "Hot 103's Mixed tape"...which I still have, and believe it or not,it still sounds pretty damn good! 🙂....thats when the club music/freestyle music addiction set in! 🙂.....wasnt freestyle music first called "Club Music???".....I remember going to this record store in good old "Deer Park,NY" called D.J Records...and the guys that worked there always refurred to it as "Club Music"...And I'm talking about right from the start of freestyle with Hot 103 here in NY....or was that just a Long Guyland thing?

A promotional "Together Forever" cd single. It had like 10 versions of the song and they all sounded EXACTLY the alike. lol I wish I still had it though.

1st i actually bought (and not passed on to me) i think was the cover girls because of you.

first freestyle tape i got was timmy t time after time / one more try it had a great ocean mix and now i cant find that tape.

I have that "one more try" ocean mix. I like that version better than the original to be honest. Very hot.

From 1983 - 1985
My very first 12" that I bought was "Cheap Thrills" - Planet Patrol
First album (LP) was Jenny Burton's Vena Cava (incl. remember what you like)
Soon after this fell in love with Shannon's debut album "Let the music play" and her second "Do You Wanna Get Away" (did buy all her 12'' and albums....)

My 12" + album collection from that time iclude artists like:
Afrika Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force, Planet Patrol, Tina B, Alisha, Freeez, John Rocca, Nolan Thomas, Jay Novelle, Monet, Judy Torres, Loleatta Holloway, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam and ehmm...did I mention Shannon? (lol)

From 1986 - 2000
Safire, Nocera, Cover Girls, Noel, TKA, Exposé, Latin Rascals, Cyré, Hanson & Davis, Joyce Sims, Company B, Sequal, Stevie B, Willie Colon, Sly Fox, Nu Shooz, Aleem, Brenda K Starr, Sweet Sensation, Connie (Harvey) and others..

From 2000 'til now
(Searching for a lot of Old Skool CD's)
Haven't really bought any 'new' stuff since 2000 of Latin Freestyle, but next to all mentioned above 'old skoolers' recently have been listening to:
George Lamond, Cynthia, Ashley, Johnny O, Coro.

Any more 'new' Freestyle recommands from you CF-members??? :jiggy
