DREAM

opening doors in the way of dreams
praying it will stay open
each door as i approach
trying to predict the best time
to enter the doorway-

not having to stop for anything
leaving a path for others to follow
opening the door with all my strength
as i cross the final doorway-

she stands
holding the door open
for me to enter
falling into her arms-

and i awaken in despair
with a doorway closed
i stare
i cry
i dream.
