Yeah

Last Time I was there I had went with my brother Luis (RIP) and Ivonette my ex dancer to watch 2 without hats performed their new hit at the time "3 on a mic"....thats a long time ago...WOW 🙂

Of course I remember Emerald City. I used to go there back in the day to see some freestyle acts perform. The location where Emerald City used to be is now Copacabana. They still have the lighted NYC skyline (or whatever it is) as the stage background.

Toto,I don't think where in Kansas anymore. Follow the yellow brick road to Emerald City. Remember that on Hot 103. The wizard in the mix Glenn Frisher. I used to go there all the time. I saw Coro,Abby Lynn,Doug Lazy,C&C Music Factory. That place was great.

hell yeah

hey Latin i think that we must of had been there on the same night when two without hats performed cause i was there too i miss that club i wish they would open it up again i saw them and giggles and a few others but yeah that place was the bomb oh yeah i also remember that saying on hot 103 man those were the days!!!!!

I was too young to go but my mother sure did go every saturday night with hot 97 and Glen Fresha (I think thats how you spell his name).

I was too young (remember I am only 26 now) but I did get in twice with the help of my older cousin & some fake ID 😉

okay where was that club in NYC? why dont they have freestyle clubs anymore cuz there are young people like me that love freestyle and it sucks that they dont have any concerts or clubs anymoree

CaLiZ CuTiE, like I said in an earlier post, the location where Emerald City was located is now Copacabana, the latin nightclub. It's on 57th st between 11th and 12th avenues. Rumor has it that Copacabana has to move cause the building was sold to Donald Trump and he wants to put up an apartment building in that location. There are no freestyle clubs because there aren't enough people that want to hear only freestyle all night long.

The fierce one!

Those were very good times back then...

It is true that it was where Copa is now but I believe it used to be somewhere else before...I just can't remember...

Anyway, I saw a lot of performances in there. TKA, Chrissy Iecce, Solid, Jolanda, etc....

Hey how about the short lived "Red Parrot"(club where Exit is now and at one time it was across the street from Copa where the Nissan dealer is now)... Does anybody remember?

infinity ...I didnt know that emerald city was at a different location befor w.57 between 11 and 12 ave. And i never heard of the red parrot.Heck yeah i would love to listen to freestyle all nite long!!!!!!!!Freestyle rocks!!!!

Emerald City Jamz'd

It was one of the places to be at. I spun there five times on a guest shot. Freestyle ruled in them days. Nothing was like it, Brooklyn was in the house. However the first true Freestyle Club was the Funhouse with The Underground coming in second. I remember spinning some Freestyle at the old Limelight. Many a V.I.P. party upstairs. A club was everywhere to be found. Circus-Circus, Club Shalamar, Foxes, Abaracada, The Nook, Phase II, The Garage, The Pather Club, The Playpen,... The best freestyle clubs here on the Jerzey side.

What about Lagunas? That was fun too 🙂 L'amour East..Paleds..Palladium (when it played freestyle) god there were so many!

Yeah Dayer, Lagunas at the Forest Hills Swim Club. That was the place to be on Monday nights. I had so much fun hanging out there. I lived 2 minutes away from that place. You could go swimming and play pool volleyball when you got hot after dancing.

Yep!

I live in Glendale which is mighty close to Forest Hills. I loved that place 🙂

Perfect Beats...wasn't "The Devils Nest" the first freestyle club, not Funhouse ?? I know Funhouse was already established before Devils nest started.....but The Devils Nest is where Lil Louie Vega and Sal Albatello introduced freestyle and freestyle artists. Funhouse and Jellybean were playing more Disco..

I don't know...i've had alot of shots of absolute since then...maybe my brain is a little warped....LOL
