Mixing freestyle on the radio today is different from mixing it in 1988. Nowadays, I'm catering to a different crowd. Not everyone is a freestyle fan listening. Its not the 'in' music no more. Playing 'bit and pieces' will only be familiar to the hard core fan. Believe me, we get calls asking who sings 'Fantasy Girl" when we play it, as if its a new song. So if they don't know THAT song, they won't know the real rare stuff. Doesn't mean I can't play it, but I can't do it every single week. Unfortunately, Radio is about playing the hits.
