Hey everyone !!

Do any of you remember that TV show that gave many of today's freestyle artists a chance to air their music to the nation - Dance Party USA? It aired on the USA network from 85-92 and was filmed in Philly. I can remember hearing Corina's "Out of Control" on that show and absolutely LOVING that track. TKA were basically honorary regulars with the amount of times that they performed on the show, as were The Jets, Taylor Dayne, Expose, Alisha, and others. The list of freestyle artists that either performed on the show or their song got airplay there is mind-boggling.

I just wanted to drop a quick plug to Dance Party USA's Discussion Group Dance Party USA Discussion Group. I know I often credit this show with giving me my love of PR as, more often than not, I remember spending time learning the art of public relations from their associate producers lots of behind the scenes stuff rather than going on camera only to be told "You're Pulled" :lol

There are over 700 members, including quite a few former regulars and guests of the show. Freestyle is often one of the topics of discussion along with 80's flashbacks etc and photos from then and now - so if you can, feel free to stop by and take a look!

And to think - Sizz-l was also Jose from Pure Pleazure and speaking of Pure Pleasure - Mykl Astorga was also a regular on the show. :shhh

Aly.... I used to manage PRINCESS, met her when i was with Expose' and we did the show.....

Exactly, what did Princess do? What was her talent? All I remember was she wanted to be the female version of Prince. I use to watch the show on a daily basis. I remember I had a crush on the guy with the sunglasses. He use to cute till the Valentine show and he would take them off for jus that one day. He took them off and I was like put them back on. LOL
 
Actually- Princess, after Andy Gury left, hosted the show for over 3 years and went on to go to school for Communications. Scotman - I didn't know you managed her - how cool! I saw your post re: Gioia and it looks like we might know some of the same crew. I'll PM you later.

Kenny - Thanks for the props 🙂 and as for old video clips :sadsmile the owners of the show are pretty diligent about telling everyone that they own the copyright so unfortunately, I can't help anyone on that :splat

Edalgiere - thanks for posting about the shows - we still have alot of freestyle lovers on that list and many don't live too far from NYC. Back in the day, I know Romeo, Mitch and those guys were pretty tight with TKA. As for Bob - Bobby I'm so with you with the "Put those glasses back on" *LOL* On Bob's latest PR shots, he is STILL wearing shades! :lol

Tank... we recorded a re-make of "Midninight Confession" by the grass roots with her, done in Pantera in Miami, never got released. I had her become a spokesperson for an anti-drug campaign that Nationwide Insurance did..VERY LUCRATIVE!!! She was a great girl. Very smart!! Lost touch with her and have no idea where she is now, last we talked she was working for MTV
