Today I got Cynthia's Greatest hit's. Eventhough I have all of her songs already I couldnt resist. I was a little dissapointed in some songs like "Love me tonight" and the remix to "Endless Nights". I wasnt feeling thost two. "Love me tonight " sounds different than the original and the "Endless Nights" remix to me was a waste of space on the album. 🙄 I kind of liked how Cynthia's voice sounds in the "change on me" remix.🙂

Yeah I saw it is it good? I dont like that much of Johnny O 's songs . I only like fantasy Girl and Highways of love.😀

Chao$ ur missin out...yeah it's good to have if you don't have any of his stuff when he was with Mic Mac

YO CHAOS-i wasn't really a big Johnny O. fan either. as a matter of fact, i only liked tha 2 u like. BUT GET HIS ALBUM TOO!!!! i guarantee you'll be pleasantly surprised! "Memories", "I Gave My Heart To You", & "Don't Give Up On Love" are REALLY HOT! i also like tha original versions of "Endless nights" & "Love Me Tonight" as well. but i already have them anyways so i didn't really matter to me. it was actually kinda kool to hear alternate versions of those 2 songs. tha house dub of "Endless Nights" is kinda growin' on me. but that house version of "Love Me Tonight" was kinda dry compared to tha freestyle version. it was a hot album though. and she looks HOT on tha cover (as usual)! body's bangin'!!!!!!!!!!

If you already have Cynthia I, Cynthia II and Cynthia The Remixes then I don't recommend you get her Greatest Hits Album. Somehow Thump Records was able to get the rights to all of Cynthia's And Johnny O's songs that they recorded when they were with Mic Mac Records. I thought Mickey Garcia and Marvin Schlachter were still fighting in court over the rights to the music so I didn't think they could legally license it to anyone but I guess I was wrong.

sup Victor

im not sure cuz tha album just says "endless nights (remix)". and i dont know how many there were. but its a house dub wit no verses just tha music and some of her adlibs dubbed and repeated throughout tha song. im kinda likin' it tha more i hear it! cuz i heard so many bad things about tha cynthia remixes that i didnt know what to expect. but its kinda hot!

oh - its tha remix on tha Greatest Hits album. u said u heard it right? that one.

I think the Greatest Hits is a nice package considering it has all the extended versions of the hits. The Tommy Boy collection has all radio-versions of her songs, so this is a nice one-stop place for all her hits. However, I would've preferred the inclusion of the original freestyle mix of "Love Me Tonight" instead of one of the other remixes. I like the house mix, but it doesn't compare to the original mix.

Hey Victor, we're neighbors... (Pelham Parkway here)...

Peace.

Don't get me wrong, I like the songs on the album but how can you call it a greatest hits album and not include "If I had The Chance". I guess I'm biased against the album because I know that Cynthia will not get any royalties money from people purchasing it.

Victor:

damn! i haven't heard that one then, can u tell me where i could find it. is it on any collections or anything that u know of?

SamK:

what u mean? she ain't gettin royalties for it? it's her stuff, she gotta get some kinda payment. i hope she is. i wouldn't have bought it had i known she wasn't gettin nothin from it. i feel u though. i wish it had her newer tracks on it mixed wit tha old (like Lisette's) but i figured it's probably problems wit record labels so they couldn't put it all together like that.

From what I understand, most of the Mic Mac artists didn't get a lot of royalties from the record sales even back when they were originally released when freestyle was really popular. The artists made most of their money from performances. There are a couple of artists here on the message board that were originally singed to Mic Mac that can verify this like Nyasia and CJay from Body N Style. Also I heard that the contracts were structured in a way that really favored Mic Mac and gave complete control of the material to Mic Mac. When a record company wants to use material recorded an another label, they need to pay a licensing fee to the label under which the material was recorded. Some of that money is suppose to make it back to the artists but I think in Mic Mac's case, it rarely does.

I also know that this Greatest Hits album was released without Cynthia's permission/knowledge because of two reasons. First, her manager told me that she was going to put out a greatest hits album but that she was going to re-record all her original Mic Mac material. Second, I told her manager about the album because they didn't even know ahead of time that it was coming out. Also, look at the pictures on the album cover. The were taken right off of Cynthia's original Mic Mac albums. They are not even up to date. Anybody putting out a greatest hits would have included an up to date picture and their new material.

Wow, that's interesting Sam. R U referring to the greatest hits that has Cynthia on the cover with (I believe) a black dress & gloves up to her elbows? I'm a proud owner of that cassette tape (yeah...I have the cassette and its 2001!), but that's a shame about the royalties though! I'm glad to see she still kickin' it at the clubs all over NYC. When I take a trip back up to my home town, I hope I get to see her. Man, let me tell U, I was SO in love with Cynthia back when I was like 11 years old. She looked so good to me on her 1st album cover. I'll tell ya what, things haven't changed much now either. Cynthia, if U your reading this, U still lookin' good girl!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrr 😉

MicMac still scammin'!!!

SamK:

no im pissed! i thought when i bought that greatest hits album, i was supporting one of my favorite artists. but she may not even be gettin nothin from it! thats messed up! well i hope she still releases tha authorized greatest hits album. i will buy that one too. have u heard of any release dates?

Victor:

thankx for tha info man! but when "endless nights" originally came out i was only like 6 or 7! so i guess i missed out! see i originally started out hearing freestyle when tha whole new school sound was breaking and tha sound of freestyle was changing wit songs like "together forever", "temptation", "who's got your love", & "within my heart". so it wasn't til i was a little older that i started going back tryin to hear some of tha older stuff as well. and i luved it! immediately took to Cynthia cuz my sister had her "Cynthia 2" album. and i thought she was beautiful! so now i've gone back and collected as much as i could from her through tha years. and now she's one of my favorite artists! i would luv to see her perform! i hear she puts on a good show.

Does she put on a good performance. Oh my god when I saw her at Beatstock last summer I was amazed. Her voice is so powerful she sounds better live than in her recordings. Oh and about the Mic Mac situation poor Cynthia thats why they closed down.
Markluvzcynthia Ill have to disagree with ya on her looking nice on her first album cover, her hair looked kind of tore up. I think she looked slammin in her Cynthia 2 album and in her thinking about you album.

I have seen several freestyle performances and let me tell you that nothing can compare to a CYNTHIA performance. I recently saw her last month and the energy she gives to the crown is just unbelievable. She sings live and you can't even tell it's live, that's because she is so talebted and her voice is unbelievable. She is to me the true queen of freestyle and i'm sure anyone who has seen her perform will agree. I also got the chance to meet and party with her. She is truly the most down to earth person i have ever met. She' s a blast to chill with. Cynthia will always be a freestyle legend.

putana2002 - yes I am referring to the one with that picture on the cover.

I was at Ohm on Friday night and had a nice conversation with Cynthia in the VIP area. For all you doubters, Kenny Guido and Renee can confirm this. I've spoken to her at many events and met her many years ago when she was working at a store in Manhattan. She told me that she spoke to someone at Thump about the Greatest Hits album after they had already released it. She told them that she had wished they had at least asked her for an up to date picture for the cover. She also told me that she had given up on her own greatest hits project and I think she said that she had abandoned it even before the Thump one had been released. She also mentioned that she is going into the studio to start work on her next album but she still hasn't signed with a label. She is no longer under contract with Timber/Robbines because she has completed her commitment to them. I also met her boyfriend, Carlos (I think that was his name). He was a really nice guy. I hope he makes her happy because she is a real sweetheart.
