I HEARD THAT THERE IS GONNA BE A ONCE IN A LIFETIME CONCERT. WITH ALL THE OLD FREESTYLE SINGERS. IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE HELD IN CAMDEN, NJ. HAS ANYONE HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT IT??????
 
I think I know what you are talking about. It's not definite yet but they are trying to put the concert on Sunday Memorial Day Weeekend at a club on Delaware Ave in Philly. It is supposedly going to be called the 1st annual Freestyle Reunion Concert. It is all up in the air, they are trying to get artists to perform still. I also believe they are trying to get Lil Suzy to headline. I know all of this because I was asked to do it so what I'll do is as soon as I get all the details and it is definite I will put up a post on Clubfreestyle.com letting everyone know.

Oh my God that would be so cool!! I was a faithful Q102 freestyle concert goer who missed the early days when most of the acts were at the ECentre in Camden. I did see Lil Suzy perform there but she was on and off the stage sooo fast that she left the stage before we got to our seats. Lisa Lisa was also great when she performed there. I don't care if it's Philly or Camden, I'M THERE!!

PLEASE LIL SUZY SAY YES to them, and if your new material is ready yet (or almost ready) we'd love to hear it! I would also like to see someone organize and put on an "outdoor" freestyle reunion show for the east coast now that the weather is FINALLY getting warmer!! Thanks and keep us posted!
 
i hope it happens and if it dose maybe it will bring freesstyle back to philly again were it belongs and new york can have it to freestyle anywere would be great i remember the days of the monster concerts when k7 lil suzy no mercery etc played there i did not get to go but q102 use to have it live on the radio please make a big concert in philly
 
We already had a FStle Reunion! Exit last year. Half the friggin' ord waz there!

How kum we're not having anymore Big KTU showz? Party Gras last year waz ALL freestyle, this year it waz al crap. From what it looked like, Exit waz packed bth tymez, no?
 
BEATSTOCK WAS SLAMMIN LAST SUMMER!! SO MANY FREESTLYE ACTS, BUT I COULD OF DONE W/O THE DAM DRAGON FLIES AND THE SKID MARK ON MY WIFE BEATER!
 
In all likeliness (even with proper promotion) the event will only be moderately successful - if that. I predict that whomever puts on the show will break even or just slightly better, at best...It will be interesting to see if this actually manifests into something more than just a rumor and also to see who they can can actually persuade to come back to Philly...Most of the real Freestyle legends haven't been here in years and those that have probably had a miserable experience on their last visit (ie - George LaMond at the Warehouse in 1997 performing for a crowd of what, 30?)...

If they can bring in names like George LaMond, Judy Torres, TKA, Cynthia, Coro (and others who saw a success at the 2 Freestyle Re-Union shows held at NY's Club Exit last year) I would definitely be interested in going as I think it would be a great occasion...but if it will just be artists like Lil' Suzy, Collage, Denine & Rockell - !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO!!! It wouldn't be worth the time or the money.

Hey Rhoq, I totally agree with you. In fact, when I was asked to do the show, the turn-out was the first thing I was concerned with. There were a lot of shows that we would practice our butts off for and hardly anyone would show up! It wasn't even worth it. And a lot of acts said they wouldn't want to perform for that same reason. It's embarassing! To be honest with you, I don't think the concert is going to happen anyway, I haven't heard from anyone lately. But you're right, it would be different if they had Judy, Nyasia or George Lamond there, freestyle legends, but a couple artists that never had real airplay won't pull a big enough crowd. See ya on the board!

Unfortunately, that is the sad truth about Philly.

As you can see here on Club Freestyle you have many members from in and around the Philly area showing their love and support. But when it comes to Philly itself, Freestyle died the day Q-102 stopped playing it.

Any word on the rumored Tazmania Reunion concert?
 
yea rhoq is right freestyle died in philly when q102 stoped playin it and all they play now is the same stuff every 10 min i dont even put my radio on much anymore now and when i call them up they laugh when i tell them to play freestyle its asheme how they diss freestyle here in philly maybe one day it will come back but it dose not look good the only freesstyle philly has is there own cds records etc
 
Hi Rhoq, no word on the Taz reunion concert, I really don't think it is going to happen for obvious reasons. It is a shame though, Q102 should play freestyle. They did play "Spring Love" the other day and I couldn't believe it!! Pop music is kind of taking over right now but ya know the music always changes. But for the concert, I highly doubt it'll happen but I will let you know if I hear anything.

I would love to see a concert in philly

I would love to see a freestyle concert in philly. But q102 needs to start playing more dance music including freestyle. Q102 needs to do something like a beatstock and include 50 of the top dance acts. also q102 needs to start playing freestyle again monrico has a point. Q102 need to step it up and start putting freestyle in the mix

Hey! Well, I have been working on new material and I am currently putting a show together with my new songs so I can audition for different record labels. It is more of a pop sound and I even did a ballad but dance is definitely in there. I am really excited and me and my dancers are working very hard. Hopefully something will happen, wish me luck! I agree with Rhoq...Promoted properly and with the right acts......it could be great.....I would love to see Judy Torres, Nyasia,TKA, Coro, Cynthia.....They are true freestyle legends.....I'd have to pass on Lil Suzy if she was headlining.....not really worth it......
