hey everyone. hope you're all doing well. i kinda need help deciding which major i should go into in september. the majors are:

history
education
criminal justice
radio/television

which one seems better?? which major did you guys pick when you were in college??

Hi Bklyngrl..I went to Brooklyn College and majored in Television/Radio and let me just give you this piece of advice....If you go into it, make sure you do an internship or have a foot in the door somewhere, otherwise it is a very hard industry to get into. The courses are fun but its a very competitive industry. One guy that I had some classes with is on the Z100 Morning Zoo now.

la mas grande: thanks for the response 🙂 hope you enjoyed that major

randi: thanks for the advice. for the internship, we could intern at a radio station right? was the guy tj the dj that you had classes with?

geminiprincess: thanks..i'm kinda considering going there but everyone assumes i want to become a paralegal or something. also thanks for the other careers that can be done with criminal justice

so far, thank you to all four of you. i still have to decide on the colleges and the major. i got accepted to great schools but the decision is hard to make...

You could also do Radio/Television in the US army.
www.goarmy.com

Get all your training there and get the Montgomery GI bill for college. ($36,144 worth + Army College Fund = $70,344 total for school.)
While in, and working as a Photographer or Radio Telecommunications Specialist with AFN, you could earn valuable training and work in world wide locations plus goto school at the same time. While in the Army you could goto school at the same time and let the Army pay 100% of your classes without using your Montgomery GI Bill or College Fund.

Not to mention sign up for EArmyU courses where you will get a laptop (IBM Thinkpad) which is yours after the completion of some courses.

criminal justice

I believe with that major...you can defend yourself more in this crazy world. 🙂

Criminal Justice has nothing to do with defending yourself. What it does do is enlighten you to Federal Laws, constitutional amendments, and Trial Cases which todays laws were derived from. I know this because I took it for a year. Figured out I could make more money as a Computer Technician.
It does give you a little more weight for Police Department. But not too much. Reason, Police Departments deal more with State Laws and enfractions.
You ask: Well were does the Federal laws come in? State Laws work in line with Federal. To an extent. When an individual breaks a law like say, "Speeding" he/she is actually breaking a State Statutory Law. Any of the other carnal laws like Murder, are also covered under State Laws unless tried within a Federal jurisdiction.

What is the differance? The differance is State will not superceed Federal and Federal cannot interfere until a case eithers goes "Mistrial", or "Deadlock". Then and only then the federal DA for the District the individual is being tried in can Retry the case under federal laws.

There's more to the laws and statues pertaining to Federal and State Laws. Latincop could tell you a good deal of it also.

Hi bklyngrl...Yes, you can do an internship at a radio station..KTU, Z100, etc..they all take interns. The guy I went to school with is Skeery Jones...his name is really Anthony.

out of your four choices.. i would go for radio / television, sounds most interesting

as for my choice, i have yet to enter university (this fall) but i applied for environmental science. figured i'd combine my love of geography with my love of life science 😀

Tran Man...Yes, Television and Radio is interesting...and fun..but it's a very tough field to get into. Both my sister and I majored in it and neither of us ended up in the field. Im not trying to dissuade Bkkyngrl from going into it though...just want you to know that its not that easy to get into.

I majored in theater, work in publishing, and am getting my master's in social work. LOL. What I'm saying is you never know where you are going to end up career-wise, so if you don't know what you want to do for work, then major in something you'll enjoy.

tran man: thanks for the reply

randi: thanks once again for the reply. i don't know if i still wanna major in it but i might give it a shot

ivan diller: thank you. there are too many things that i want to do as a career but it's hard to pick the major.

laindia320: thanks for letting me know your majors. hope you enjoyed them

thanks so much to all who replied...
