Sources having been telling me for awhile that although Chris Phillips is close to putting the finishing touches on his wife's (Kathy Phillips) new album, he is pursuing other kinds of music and is most likely leaving the freestyle/dance scene. I didn't believe these sources at first so I decided to do my own research by checking out the odeon records website and to my surprised I couldn't believe what I was seeing! The website is completely different from when last viewed and it features classic, new age, easy listening, etc. Has anyone else heard or noticed this change? This is the same man (along with his sister Alexia Phillips) who brought us so many great freestyle tracks of the 90's and produced songs for tons of new school recording artists, and after all this he's saying bye bye? How can this be? Does anyone know what's the story here?

Chris has never said goodbye to freestyle. He has always produced, mastered, written music in dance, new age, jazz, etc. Odeon records also publishes and licenses music and has a full service recording studio. The website was re-tooled and redesigned by dashock.com to showcase the entire product line of Odeon Records. Kathy's album is long finished and is awaiting final licensing and distribution. Chris does hundreds of songs that don't always see a cd pressing.

Expect to see new material soon directly from Chris and the label. DRC will post an update on that material soon. In the meantime, Chris's latest eurodance production is "Let the games begin (Hellas)" by Niki & Christina. It is featured on the Universal Canada music compilation Partymania 4 in stores this week. You can buy it for only CAN $14.99 here

You can hear a sample on our audio streams at dashock.com

cheers,

g

I thought the Kathy Phillips album was originally intended to be release back in Fall of '03 ... at least that's what I remembered hearing like 2 years ago.

Also, why hasn't Chris perform in so long ... or has he been performing?

I thought Chris got out of freestyle a long time ago. He was out of it for a few years before coming back with the "Return of Planet Freestyle " comp. He seems to have moved on to other things now.

The same is true of his sister Alexia.
