A Brunswick County educator accused of sexual misconduct with teenagers has struck a deal with prosecutors. Sherry hair won't face trial, but there also appears to be no chance she'll get her job back at North Brunswick HS.
She is married and a mother of 4 but now Sherry hair is an amitted sex offender.. The former cheerleading coach at North brunswick HS pleaded no contest to taking indecent liberties with a child. In exchange for the plea, Hair won't serve any jail time, although, if she breaks the rules of her probation, she'll serve 16-20 months in jail.
On feb 6th, detectives say Hair drove a 15 year oild and a 16 year old by to a baseball field in NW District Park in Leland. At the ball park, Brunswick County Assistant DA, Connie Jordan says, Hair engaged in sexual acts with the 15 year old including heavy kissing and touching in the private areas. Beyond that, Jordan says Hair wrote love letters to the 15 year old and sent nude photos of herself through e-mail. In a search of Hair's car, detectives found a floppy disk with more naked photos of hair and the young boys.
Although Hair says she never laid a hand on either of the boys, she says she took the plea agreement because the legal cost of defending herself were too steep. But now the teacher's assistant won't be working as an educator anymore. In fact, as a registered sex offender, she is forbidden from stepping foot on any school campus.
