can't we all just get along??? freestyle needs unity, not mutiny!!!
i wanted to put my 2 cents in ok?? well, to say that i am disappointed a bit would be an understatement. for the life of me i cannot understand all the negativity i have seen around this site lately....some people who call themselves fans are not acting like it up in here...everyone has a right to their opinions, but why must people come down on others with such hate??? look, i am a producer/artist who most of you have never heard of and that is about to change quickly, but if that is what i have to look forward to then i'm not so sure that i want any part of it...i can take constructive criticism, as a matter of fact, i seek that from industry professionals out there i admire. but there is a line you walk to where it becomes downright overboard and disrespectful. there is nothing wrong with giving your opinions, but why can't we be tactful about it??? after all, when an artist puts something out it is something they think you will enjoy, something they felt proud of while recording it and if to you they missed the mark why put them down in the ways i have seen??? when you are working on something in your profession, do you want your boss to tell you your hard work was pointless cuz your project or idea sucks, or instead tell you that you made a great effort but here is what you could have done to make it better or more appealing?? thats a no brainer...we should treat others the way we want to be treated too. i dont like everything i hear in our genre nowadays, but i respect the effort from those who seem to be making the effort...i will be the first to point out a bad singer or production from those who are not really what the community needs, but for those who have pioneered our music and have been a part of why you became a fan in the first place, they deserve your respect...you dont have to kiss nobody's behind, you dont have to say anything you dont feel in your heart, but why not be respectful towards those who made it all happen...tka, k7...what's all the hate for these guys for?? they have been there from the start, were a big part of giving us this music we love and they deserve some respect...you dont hafta like their stuff to show some respect, besides aren't we all fans for the same music?? last time i checked, this was a freestyle site. do you understand the state of the genre today?? if you did, i dont think you would so quick to put others down...do you want freestyle to make a comeback, or linger underground forever?? i am old school str8 up..thats my sound, thats what i love, but i also know thru my 12 years of experience in many forms in this industry that new school must exist, new sounds must rise and pioneers must stay in our genre to keep the transition smooth while maintaining a connection in some way to the past...that does not mean they must make songs like they did back in the day, they can make all new stuff with a new sound, but it's important for them to be visable, to be active and to help new artists in their effort to get themselves established...in return, we must support their efforts...i hear a lot of bashing of old school artists who abandoned the scene, then you have some pioneers who come back by the fans demand and now are getting bashed for their new cd...how hipocritical...as an artist, i understand the importance of maintaining a connection with the pioneers of our music and also how the INDUSTRY demands growth, change and such. i believe tka would like nothing better than to have the scene like it was back in the day, back when it was at it's peak. that is not possible people...radio will never play the old school stuff in rotation, not a large station anyway. do we want freestyle to grow or not?? along the way since it's inception, has freestyle not grown already??? is the sound from 1987 the exact same as the sound of 1992??? didnt it grow in that period a bit?? we must be open minded and give these artists a chance to grow now too. radio dictates and demands that...radio play is the only way for an artist to make it big and some might be content to stay underground, such as myself, but for those who want to cross over and reach other markets and make it on radio, why must they be labeled a sell out?? are you selling out when you decide to move into a new direction in school or at work?? are you a sell out when you break from your roots a bit and try something new for the sake of your own personal growth...i hate that term sell-out...the only way i would look at it as a sell out is if they denied their roots, denied their past and tried to disassociate themselves from the genre which got them their shot while they moved into another area. what the hell is wrong with trying something new??? what is wrong with trying to expand your horizons??? what is wrong with growing and being creative??? are you all content at your jobs?? don't you want more?? more growth, more money, more responsibility, more opportunity for promotion?? who here wants to be in the same position and hold the same title at their jobs 10 years from now?? if you do then you are either lying or have no ambition in life...wouldn't you want support from your family as you strive to get where you want to go and try new endevours, even if maybe they didnt necessarily like the direction you were headed?? we the fans are their family and they need our support...you will not like everything you hear, you will not like every new artist or old schoolers for that matter, but we are all in this together...if we dont support the professional efforts of those who deserve it, then we are doomed to get nowhere else than where we are at now...if tka makes it into the charts with a song you dont like is that not still good for freestyle as a whole?...we need any attention we can get nowadays...we the fans are the ones who control our music's destiny...we always have...without requests, without support, without demand, without love for the ones who are making an effort to bring attention back to our music we will never get respect or attention....there are many more freestyle fans out there than freestyle consumers, that too needs to change. if we dont respect eachother then we cannot expect anyone else out there to respect our music...now more than ever we need to come together and unite..
enought of this bashing, all fans, all artists and all freestyle sites need eachother to bring it back...it can be done, but not the way i see lately...with the outlet for freestyle as small as it is we need all the support we can get. it takes hours and hours of hard work to put a song together...it only takes a second to bash it. have your opinions, feel free to comment on them, but lets respect the ones who deserve it, who are making an honest effort to put out their best work and the ones we as a community depend on to help put freestyle back on the map and gain the respect and attention necessary to do so.
any positive attention for any freestyle artist is attention for the whole community...fans, artists, web-sites, dj's, producers...all of us...is that not what you, as a fan, want for our music????
think before you are so quick to bash please, you could be doing more harm than good...it would be a tragedy if another old schooler, a new schooler or a producer with skillz took a look up in here and decided to walk away for good, cuz without support they dont stand a chance. they know they will not please everyone all the time, but show some respect for their efforts...
