The decision lies with Buffy, herself. She made a nostalgic return with her group, The Kandee Girls, in a DVD called 'Lumpiapalooza' [a concert performance filled with filipino-american artists that were a part of the movie LUMPIA - a low-budget home made video comedy/action movie from a local filipino-american director and his small cast of helpers]. For the moment, it seems like Buffy may disappear, but never rule out a comeback. She remains devoted to her pride and joy - her son. She is no longer contracted to Velocity Records and no word has been heard yet since her appearance with the Kandee Girls [her old group]. Buffy, without a doubt, will always be a great talent, especially in the genre we love - Freestyle.
Dadgel did a great job with Buffy, great catchy songs. The thing with Buffy is that she & Dadgel made a name for her in the Freestyle community and had so many fans still talking about her years later-which is rare for a new artist, because people could careless on most new artists leaving,etc..I know I do, unless the artists has something special, a uniqueness that is missed.Buffy has that, she's one of the very few west coast artists that had crossover potential and a likeability for you still to be loyal after all these years.Buffy has a name recognition, so whenever she decides to comeback, she still will have fans.Remember Buffy has not released anything since the mid-90's and were still talking about her today, how many new school artists can you say we still want & like talking about?Lil"Johanna, N.V., Miguel Reyes all have something we like in them, which is why we still talk about them.
About a month ago a friend of mine asked me about Buffy so I did some research online looking for her. I posted my findings somewhere around here? I found that she had a myspace page. I wrote to her, she just wrote back thanking me for being a fan. LOL
I also found that her album was on iTunes, but it must have been just recently cuz when I first got my iPod it wasn't there. I bought the entire album since I lost my CD. Man, it still sounds GREAT!
I think Buffy's lasting popularity has alot to do with her POP appeal. Although her and Daggel made Freestyle, her album had such great crossover appeal. When I lived in Hawaii her slow jam was like number one for 6 weeks on the radio. Our radio station doesn't even play Freestyle but they played Buffy. My cousin in Chicago said they played it there too.
