Ok, can anyone remember a time where you read a book and it just totally ruined your day by upsetting you????

I remember babysitting once and the kid asked me to read a book to him called "The Giving Tree".......it was the most horrible book I have ever read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't know this book , well........

Boy and Tree (an apple tree) are happy, boy plays in tree all day.

And the tree is happy.

Time goes by and the boy is older. The tree says "Come boy, climb my trunk and play in my branches."

Boy says he's too old and needs money to go to town. The tree offers all its apples, so that he can sell them for money, and the boy takes them and leaves.

And the tree is happy.

Time goes boy and the boy comes back as an young man. The tree says, "come boy, climb my trunk and swing in my branches."

Boy says that he's too old and what he needs is wood for a house. Tree offers the boy all of its branches to build a house, and the boy takes them and leaves.

And the tree is happy.

Time goes by and boy comes back as an older man. The tree says, "Come boy, lay down by my trunk and take a nap."

Man says that he doesn't want a nap, that he needs to get a way from here. Tree offers its trunk so the man can make a boat to get away. The man chops the trunk down and walks away, leaving a stump.

And the tree is happy, but not really.

Time goes by and man comes back as an old man with a cane. The tree/stump says, "I have nothing left to give you. You took my apples, my branches, and my trunk. Everything is gone."

Old man says that he has no needs for any of that. He is tired and just wants a place to sit. Tree offers its stump to him as a chair. The old man walks over and sits on the stump.

And the tree was happy.

Oh my freakin' God!!!!! I actually told the kid I was watching that I had to use the bathroom, and left him alone in the living and went to the bathroom and cried!!!!! 😱

That freakin' nasty selfish kid took everything the tree had and NEVER said thank you and left it alone all the time, what an ungrateful, insensitive person!!!!!!!!!!

This happened years ago, and affected me to the point where if I go to the bookstore and come across that book, I move it to the back of the shelf, behind other books, so no other person can be affected by it!

Perhaps I need thereapy?:confused
