My name is Niel J. Guilarte. I am the director of the new music video for Rockell's "Tears" DJ Volume Remix. I have been a Freestyle/Dance fan since 1986 and have been reading the posts regarding the video recently. I feel that as the director, I should shed some light to this incredible experience with Rockell.
The video was shot live in Orlando the weekend of May 9th. We were slated to have Rockell on set for 2 half days and one full day on Sunday. Rockell's management (Maguire Management) had Rockell booked at many events in order to maximize her time in Orlando.
I hired Detour Records and Films in Miami to handle production services as well as editing services and with this we began to develope a script that would re-introduce Rockell to a legion of new fans while surprising the old fans with her new sound and look.
While on set Rockell was extremely pleasant and professional. Being the first time we ever worked together she was open to unusual requests, hours and suggestions. Although difficult at times the long shoot hours (7am to 4am next day) did not effect her determination and drive to provide quality for her fans. I can remember many times where Rockell asked everyone to allow her the time to get into character in order to provide the camera with her best performance.
We wrapped the shoot and one week later Gerald Gocbout III, myself and my recording artist Jennifer Ayala travelled to Miami to begin the arduous task of editing at Detour Studios. Over two 14 hour edit sessions both Gerald and I struggled to maintain a delicate balance between the storyline and the high end cuts required for this video. The video wrapped the 17th of May late in the evening and masters were created for Maguire Mnagement and Robbins Entertainment.
On the 25th we premeired the video in Orlando, Florida and Rockell surprised the entire cast and crew as she was supposed to be performing in Tampa that night! Regardless, I felt the need to share some insight into her work ethic and the extraordinary shoot that we had. I want to thank Detour Records and crew as well as Rockell, Joe Zangie, Aly Cleary and my crew at Hidden Image Ent in Orlando for a job well done. Look for it soon on Detourrecords.com and my site hiddenimage.net.

I was honored ot work with her and look forward to contributing broadcast quality work for freestyle/dance labels. Look to us when you are ready!
