Hey everyone...I have been currently working on a demo with some r&b producers. Everything is going pretty well, but I honestly dont know if I will ever get where I need to go. I have an excellent image and label interest, but making some real hot music is rough. I had worked with a few producers about a year ago on a freestyle track because they said they had some demand for it in the undeground and in UK. I never really listened to freestyle before and thought it was kinda cheesy but these guys also did r&b/pop and I was looking for help with my demo. Needless to say, one of the guys got real busy and never wound up finishing the project, but the song I felt would have been really hot if we had finished it and I really liked how i sounded on it.
Ive been studying music trends and am trying to do something different. I have been listening to alot of different freestyle songs from the 90s over the last few months and Ive been noticing some of todays songs have a similar vocal melody. I think if it is done the right way, a new type of freestyle music could make some noise. If anyone here knows of any clubs where they play new undeground freestyle music or any djs that may spin it, please email me at lotuschick01@aol.com
Also, anyone who may be interested in collaborating, feel free to drop me an email...I actually just started making a few tracks from scratch on my own..I feel that with collaboration, this could be serious business...Dont know if theres a market for it though..h

well if your in it for the market, this might not be the music you want. 2nd thing is, if you think freestyle is cheasey this is deffinately not the music 4 you. You got to love this music to do it, theres no other reason. Good luck !

dropped you an email Jeff

Galvatron, I think you may have misunderstood me.. I had originally thought of it as cheesy when some producers asked me to cut a freestyle track about a year ago.. I really didnt go up listening to freestyle since im 23 and I honestly just thought of it as dated dance. When I heard the song and the track they were ready to record, it was actually really nice and these guys do r&b/pop/hip-hop. They were basically trying to just cut a record for underground sale to djs and uk..It was very fast and had alot of breaks in it...I then listened to alot of freestyle songs and really felt they had some catchy melodies and vocals. Now, the type of music Im looking to do would be slower and have some r&b influence...but I would be singing freestyle sounding vocals since I dont sing r&b like mary J blige or beyonce...My natural vocal sounds freestyle for some reason..so I would be singing freestylish melodies like Mario Winans did with I dont wanna know..

Well I see your in NY, so you shouldnt have a hard time finding some one to work with. I meant no harm in my comment, Good Luck and welcome to CF!

thanx everyone...Im gonna put up some stuff for u guys to listen to...Im doing everything myself (track, lyrics, recording) so its not gonna be as tight as I need it. Im still trying to figure out how to use the motif and pro-tools. I just wanna give u guys an idea of what im trying to do and if anyone wants to collab or help in any way I would appreciate it..thanx
