Arab Television Airs Tape From bin Laden

CAIRO, Egypt (Oct. 29) - The Arab television station Al-Jazeera aired a video of Osama bin Laden on Friday directly admitting for the first time that he carried out the Sept. 11 attacks and promising to outline ''the best way to avoid another Manhattan.''

It was the first footage of the al-Qaida leader to surface in more than a year. The video showed bin Laden in traditional white robes, a turban and a cloak reading from papers and standing in front of a plain, brown cloth background.

''We decided to destroy towers in America,'' bin Laden said.

He said the attack was carried out because ''we are a free people ... and we want to regain the freedom of our nation.''

we knew it was his doing why is admitting to it now 3 years later.. did he think we thought it was some one else?
what do u guys think about this and all these new threats that are coming out, that something is going to happen on tuesday

I think that if something is going to happen, it's just going to happen and catch us all off guard again. Sad. The CIA peeps better examine this tape closely, to make sure there aren't any clues for another attack, before it's too late! ps The US election is a few days away, oh boy, I don't even wanna know what Bin Laden has planned!

To be honest, i don't think that bin laden thinks that what he is doing is evil...he always invokes GOD's name in this, and he believes that what he is doing is right...the same way bush thinks what he is doing is right by sending all these peeps out to the middle east...that said, with his comment about "another manhattan", well when clinton was under office, we caught the guy who carried out the instructions to bomb the WTC the first time around...and he was the same guy who at the time was the top aide to bin laden, so lets give credit to where it is due...i do think that bin laden figures " well we did our damage to NYC, there are other cities in the US where we can do damage as well" ..so by thinking that the next attack will be on NYC, that will distract us from other potential targets...i don't think that this guy is stupid...he waited until clinton was out of office until he attacked again, and i think he would be stupid to attack us again....i think the US should just mind their own beeswax and concentrate on the problems affecting OUR country before worrying about the problems of others
