Halloween exec producer and franchise head, Moustapha Akkad, was just one of the hundreds injured in last night's deadly bombings in the Middle East. His thirty-year-old daughter, Reem, was killed according to various news sources.

The blasts occured amongst three separate Western hotel chains in the Jordanian capital of Amman. Fifty-nine people were killed. Officials obviously suspect Al Qaeda's involvement due to the timing, precision and location of the attacks which took place before 9pm last night. Two Americans reportedly died in those bombings.

Akkad suffered a heart attack and, according to our sources, is listed in critical condition. NBC News reports tonight that Reem, a mother of two, and Akkad were in a Hyatt Hotel lobby when the bomb inside went off.

Akkad died at 7:30 a.m. in a Jordanian hospital where he was being treated, said surgeon Dr. Yousef Qisous.

"He had bleeding in the lungs, his ribs were fractured and he died of his wounds and a severe heart attack this morning,'' Qisous told The Associated Press.

Moustapha Akkad, best known for producing all eight films in the "Halloween'' franchise, also produced and directed "The Message'' (1977) and "Lion of the Desert'' (1981). Both latter films starred Anthony Quinn.
 
I've heard of people surviving with a lot worse injuries, but knowing that his daughter died before him...it's no wonder he succumbed.
 
I love many of the Halloween movies and he will always be remembered for bringing us that.

Imagine...They were there because they were going to a wedding, which is supposed to be such a joyous occasion and it ended in such tragedy.
