Just wanted to let you all know that 95.3 Party in Orlando no longer exists. Its now called Power 95.3 #1 for Hip-Hop and R&B. I'm pissed off about this. This means no more dance music is going to be played. The bit of freestyle that they did play will no longer exist. I have already voiced my opinion to the Prgram Director about this. The stations in Orlando just plain suck! Its a very sad day for me. What a shame..Hip-Hop has taken over another station.

sorry to hear that i guess ktu is the only place that will play freestyle the same old stuff as usual

damn sorry to hear that but thats what its like here in philly 🙁 the so called radio DJ's play the samething over and over and only play freestyle once in a blue moon .

I guess Light Up Orlando was the last time that they will have dance artists perform. Thats a damn shame. Rockell made it big here with her music thanks to the air play of 95.3 party. Actually there were alot of dance music artists that made it big thanks to 95.3 airplay of there songs. I guess new artists in the dance scene will have to take there music elsewhere. Looks like Orlando doesn't want no dance music in this town.

well I haven't heard anything good sinse I moved to FLorida,(aside from a palmful of dance songs) all the stations I hear are hiphop also, and it gets so tyring that I started to listen to the 80's station!

ROCK ON CYNDY LAUPER!😉 :lol

Naya same here- I listen to top 40 all the time

Damn and that station is cool too- I heard it the few days I was there this past summer.

Yeah they fired everyone and just keep 3 DJ's... Thank God the 3 they keeped were my friends I would have hated to see them lose there JOBS. I heard though they won't have any DJ's until FEB.. Lets see maybe they will realize there mistake and switch back.

There is still dance music on 91.5 fm during the weekends at Night

Friday nights
11-1 progressive house and trnce

1-3 freestyle and breakbeats

3-5 house

there is also several other house and techno shows

http://www.rolins.edu/wprk

I do the freestyle and breakbeat show, and I PLAY all styles, I even do special shows where I concentrate on one style.

Everything from 1983-2004

and there will continue to be dance music concert if I have anything to do with it.

why did they change formats though? i thought they were doing great
with their ratings. how many damn hip hop stations is there in orlando now?
*M

This is the response I got after e-mailing Phil Michaels, the old Program Manager for 95.3 Party:

Hi Nicole

Thank you for your email.

We understand your disappointment.

In life.....change happens. 95-3 Party hasn't been competitive in the past 2 years due to the dance scene in Orlando going down and we needed to make a change. As you know Hip hop is the mainstream now and we decided to go in that direction because of listener demand in Orlando. We're sorry you don't have a station in Orlando anymore.

You can continue to listen to the biggest and best in Dance music by listening to us on the web. We're not going anywhere.

We appreciate your support and feedback.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thats bull, the dance scene is not nearly going down here. Its still going strong and will continue to stay strong.

That's what happens when peeps don't fill in their Arbitron Diaries (radio's equivalent to the TV Nielson Ratings) and show support for the few dance stations out there.

i rarely listen to radio but yea this sucks. and its not hip hop they're playing, more like hip POP and r&b. all these damn corporations and labels. nowadays, if u have the label/a&r $$$ backing, no matter how much the song suck, they will play it on the radio all day. sad it is.

No More Dance in Orlando =(

Hey
Im in Orlando FL too and this really sucks cause I was going to promote some Freestyle nights at local clubs and was looking for the old 953 party to sponsor us and now there is no station here that can give us that type of sponsoring.

Im surprised that 953 Party changed formats with so many NYC peeps livin here in Orlando who are fans of Dance and Freestyle.

I hope that someone has the intelligence to see that Dance music is a force to be reckoned with and will start a new station devoted to dance music 24/7!
