I know everyone wants to know, so i rather post something and everyone spreads the info along.
So i called gino latino of mega 103.5 (he is known for his days back at power 96 and hosting a video show called power tracks). so i hooked up lewis martinee,d'luna china doll and sandee for the last freestyle friday of "freestyle month". Gino told me safire was going to be interviewed over the phone from new york and rudy gil (secret society) was coming in also.
everything was cool.
the day of the show, me and d'luna couldnt meet lewis at his house, so we got agood friend al perez (of erotic exotic) to drive us to the station. so al joined the interview line up and took the chance to promote the new EROTIC EXOTIC COMPILATION CD, "anthology". it contained all the classic hits.
me al and dluna were there first. then we started talking about safire and how good she was looking these days. just then, she walked through the door and everyone turned white. it was a surprise for us. The interview with all and safire started and we were happy to know that the freestyle/Breaks "Eyes of a stranger" was to be the next release before she retires. (personally, i do think the song is the bomb and know it will do great in the florida freestyle and breaks scenes. she will go off with a bang, although i do disagree with the retirement thing). anyway.
Sandee, lewis and rudy gil came in. everyone was like so exited to see each other . it was one crazy reunion that would later feel like the verge of a gery springer show.
anyway, lewis sandee and d'luna went to one booth (man, clearchanel radio has an awsome building!!!!!). safire,rudy and al stayed in the first booth with gino. everyone took turnes talking leting people know what they are doing and what they will be doing.
lewis got on the mic and the question was droped...EXPOSE..what happened. everyone was still..there was tension in the room and then gino played a peace of gioa brunos past interview.
lewis answered that he was mainly the producer and left it as that.
Now.. what wasnt said is that lewis had a partner.. actually it was 3 (i sort of left it out on my interview i did of him years ago on another website). but there was a partner who every whone knew liked to party and go to strip clubs and spend money. unfortunatley he was incharge of finances. then ther was another partner who was mostly like an investor. at the end of expose, money was missing and ther was a large mistery. walls came crashing and lewis took a huge hit. he then had to try to fix everything and pantera had to claim bankruptcy. To this day, lewis is still paying off debts and things that went on with expose and takes the blame. everybody disses, but they dont know the inside (i am on the inside, so i can talk now).
but lewis didnt only do expose, he was a cuban american producer in miami that got farther than alot of other people..equivalant to emilio estefan. he also worked with and helped artist as OLGO, sequel, paris by air, wild maries, techno lust..and many many more.
he was a legend a nd still is.regardless.
anyway.. sandee said good when she stated to everyone "YOU SHOULD BE THANKFULL THAT YOU HAD THE OPORTUNITY!". as every one knows...all the expose songs and the expose that performed at the devils nest in the early days was that with sandee ,before she went solo. members where replaced afterwards.
the same was going to happen to china dolls, which is why d'luna showed up and also represented what freestyle evolved into.working with jellybean and lewis..a miami and new york figure who where pioneers. d'luna will eventually go solo someday and also become a icon for a new generation of freestyle heads. they did play "ill know how to love you" and all the o;d skoolers where jumping up and down to it. (D'luna used to date edmond...yes the one who sang "tought me".)
anyway back to lewis, he updated everyone on where all the former members of expose are and sequel and every one else... cuz despite all the talk..people do call him back (especially when they are trying to make combacks).
anyway,, Frank lords (secret society,and was ther last week.) calls in and they put him on the air with rudy gil (also of secret society). for theose people who dont know miami soap opera.... frank and rudy have not been best of freinds for many years... to get them to even talk was imposible. for the first time they were on the phone together and what resulted was that they agreed to have a reunion for the freetyle show on the 4th of july for mega 103.5
on top of that, al perez said they he will jump in and they will all perform the erotic exotic and secret societ songs together for the first time in years. (erotic exotic was the original back up band for expose by the way...so it was a reunion with sandee there as well.
anyway the show wraped up an that was that. afterwards everyone went to record drops for the station and then had the typical "cuban goodbye " that last about 30 minutes more.(thats why latins are always late,lol).
after that me d'luna and all went to eat breakfast with gino latino and talk about the old days and then we went to party 93.1 in mimai and went along our daily ways.
there will be a freestyle concert for mega 103.5 it was said to be july 4th, but the program director tony, told me it might be delaid another month. that he will let me know.
club freestyle was not mentiuoned on the air.. but was talked about off the air.
im probably leaving out details... but hey, i got to keep something for myself.
well anyway this is getting too long and im in the recording studio offices now.
