Wow Elear your rite it's true not that many people like the New School stuff. Whenever I listen to freestyle it's always Old School and when ever my friends borrow my CD player they hear the freestyle they like the Old School not the new School, and these are teenagers we are talking about here.😀
 
i totally agree wit tha point that freestyle was way ahead of it's time. i can think of many songs that if were re-released as new today, no one would ever know it was from '88 or something!😀

but also, i think freestyle does gotta change somewhat. i luv tha old school sound. that's basically all i listen to. but it's not gonna pick up new fans. not a drastic change, it shouldn't completely abandon tha sound. just update it. i really don't like a lotta tha new school stuff that i hear. to me they're trying to use techno type sounds over a freestylish beat. tha result of this is: 1.people not knowing whether to call it freestyle or not 2.also people not knowing whether they like it or not. it almost completely abandons tha freestyle sound. if freestyle is moved in this direction, i think freestyle fans will eventually stop listening and it will all be over. i think instead, we need more songs like "it's always you" & "i never said". these are perfect examples of how new school freestyle should be. keeping tha original sound alive, just updating it a little! we need more of those!

point is: freestyle does gotta change a little. it is 2001, it can't be what it was in tha 80's when it was first created. look at how much rap has changed. still using old school beats, they just update them! same thing freestyle's gotta do!

Hey Elear, we need some truth in here...thanks bro!!! I couldn't have said it all better myself!!! Maybe I'll get blasted too...but its cool!! I think the new school is garbage. It's a joke. It sux. It's not even freetsyle...it's wannabe freestyle. Its so poppy it makes me sick. The beats are fast and soft UNLIKE real freestyle. I never buy any new school crap. I don't surrort crap that puts a freestyle title over it, sorry!! I just cant get into that new school stuff. I'll abmit, I actually bought robin fox and paradigm a few months ago....you know what, I NEVER listen to it anymore. Its a joke....its so WEAK!!! Most of all, the new school lacks one thing that it will never have.....PASSION. Freestyle is about passion. New school has ZERO passion. Its got no backbone. I dont support what I dont like ....sorry!! Im not even gonna start on the new song by our two great legends of freestyle...later all.......oh, one more thing while Im on a roll....See my thought at the bottom....know what it means?? It means that alot of people talk smack!! It seems that Im the only one boomin freestyle every ride I take. I sure hope some of you all dont say how much you love freestyle , then get into your car and put on HOT97....I KNOW some of you do.....thats a damn shame too!! 😛

Look, I would love nothing more than to have some bad ass songs come out....songs that DO have passion AND originality (NO ridiculously played out planet rock beats).....All I can say is thank God I still have my collection! I could not survive on the new stuff played on the radio...😛

Keep your eye out for anything from Artistik. They have a good formula. I hope they see the support they deserve and continue to experiment with and create great music. Also Kenny Freestyle out in San Jose. My man had got the desire!

exactly elear...i hate that crap...and there are some people in here that i can quote them saying that atleast 5 times a week...its like give me a break...yeah i know its not 88 cause if it was i would be in 2nd grade...anyway we still need a semi similar sounding sound...we cant let freestyle be taken over by this euro crap that floods the freestyle market...i hope people take the hint....
two things that would make freestyle a lot better
1. take out the euro and bring back the latin
2. stop doing remakes!!!!!

I'm a freestyle fan from thr jump!!!!!!!!! 30 years old! and still pump it! This NEW Freestyle gives me a headache! no soul no meaning just hurried, rushed and Euro. At least TKA came out with a oldschool sounding new song from their recent album. "When will I see you again". Oldschool turns heads quicker than newschool. PERIOD!!!
 
Well from living in Toronto most teenagers here like that euro, cheesy freestyle crap that is out here and I do agree with Elear. It's just that the producers try to keep freestyle alive but at the same time they want to make some money so they but some sounds that come off the euro, trance to make it more commercial to see if it can make it on the radio for the peeps that like euro/trance music but that isn't just working. Like I said it before they have to start using the old Roland sound machines and congo drums with some good breaks & edits. 🙁 Also, most of these vocals need to be worked on cause some irritate me, embarassing, and awful. And one more thing, if a young artist wants to sing a song that they want it to sound euroish and has the money most people would take the money and put that crap on.

I'm sure you dont want to blast that r and b group in your car cuz you probably think its whack, so youll more than likely stick to todays sound. ----thats exactly what i mean when i say that freestyle does need a change in sound. it will in no way stop being freestyle but its still a more updated freestyle. you guys can decide "well im sticking to this sound because this sound makes it freestyle"..... right so as long as you will live you guys will only be role modeling peeps who are of age, not keeping in mind those of the new generation. which is very very wrong in my opinion. more than half of music s sales are generated by new generation listeners. i have no problem with old school freestyle at all. i love it. i wish its sound didnt have to change myself but if you want freestyle to make waves you gotta think of something other than just planet rock beat and up and down robot synths. its old. britney spear and bsb fans just wont dig it. not even jay z and mary j fans. do you want freestyle to sink and bitch about how it doesnt get airplay or how they dont play videos about it or do you want to support it and not bring this negative vibe? youre only killing the music instead of trying to do what you have posted. but no ghetto must always be ghetto right?
 
Well, I think some people are missing the message we are trying to put out: JUST BECAUSE IT IS LABELED FREESTYLE, THAT DOES NOT MEAN WE HAVE TO SUPPORT IT. What we are talking about is not even freestyle anyway. So, HERE IS THE BEST SOLUTION in my opinion......(of course this wont happen anytime soon and it is hard to apply)....Stop calling this new school, euro-sounding, no passion, fast-paced, soft-beated garbage freestyle. It gives REAL freestyle a bad name. HOw does that sopund...BE HONEST. Thats fair!! Stop calling this junk freestyle...cause it aint. PERIOD. What the hell does, for example, "Can't take these lies" by Suzy Swan and "Back for my Love" by Paradigm have in common??? NOT MUCH.....Think the songs over in your head...PLEASE!!!! They are so damn distant. Don't wanna believe it?? Ok, mix them back to back and see how it sounds!!!! Anyway, I've said enopugh for now. It's all club/euro/house/trance music...NOT FREESTYLE...And like Imond I'll be 30 in Septemeber...I was right there through it all....I'm speaking from a well-observed perspective.....😛

Cyan, Secret Society, Cause'n'Effect, Voice In Fashion = Alternative Freestyle

Trilogy, Mike Arce, Olga, Damian = Latin Freestyle

Hot 2 Trot, Natasha, Visage, In-Effect = Miami Freestyle

(any High Power), (early Tazmania), Artistik records = New York Style

I'm sure some of you might think I'm wrong but that's the way I see it.
