If you had $10 million to spend just on your love for freestyle/electro/latin hip hop, whatever you call it, what would you do.

1) Hold a open air concert with free entry & filmed/video for a tv special.

2) Purchase the rights to old school performers albums & make a gift of it back to the artist.

3) Promote the genre to teenagers & next generation

4) invest in a advertsing/promotion agency

5) Start a recording label & music channel & radio station

6) Open dance music stores specializing in freestyle dedicated section of course.

7) Locate those missing studio albums & singles and then make them available.

I've run out of ideas at the moment, any offers? or agreements?

1. An open air concert would be ok,but not for free, minimal entrance fee,but I'd make it more of a tour in areas where freestyle had the most impact, and showcasing the top names of freestyle.

2.There are way to many compilations out on freestyle,no need for yet another.

3. Promoting to this generation can be difficult as many do not seem to appreciate the style of music we grew up on. But something can be done to turn them on to the freestyle vibe (explained on the bottom)

4. No

5. Yes,start a label (more explained at the bottom)

6. No

7. Maybe

I'd open a label, and combine (collab) freestyle artist with top hip hop artists to push the track and act.

Example:

Jenny Burton re-make of One More Shot featuring Missy Elliot

TKA featuring Fat Joe

Just examples and suggestions.

I'd deff. put out a few re-makes if it came down to this while using yesterday and today's top producers and guest artist to push the movement then break out an album for such acts.

Let me just clear up point 2)

Buy the rights to artist recordings which are owned by there old record label which prevents them from putting on a better live show. The royalities would then belong to the artist. the masters would them become available for remixers to update the vocals & music.

1. yes. definitely throw a show. not sure about the tv thing though.

2. no

3. yes

4. no

5. label - no. radio station - yes

6. no

7. not sure.

I also have another idea. How about making an "indecent proposal" to a couple of those artists you had / have crushes on?

One thing that I have always thought of was to open a club/record store combo.

Have a huge stage, and it would host the best of dance music, not just freestyle, but freestyle would be the emphasis.

Inside the club, past the stage and dance floor, would be a fully stocked record/cd store where the artists performing would be able to do a "meet and greet" time either before or after the show, where they would be able to sell their latest cd release, and autograph it for the fans.

The registers would have "soundscan" on them, which is what Billboard magazine uses to track record sales, so the sales would be recorded, and help give freestyle better exposure.

I would buy myself a LearJet and fly every Freestyle Fan I could everywhere they wanted to go and I would do free charters for all the artists to all their concerts all over the world... YEAH!!!
